oh good for you going smoke free. just know that after today your ophysical adiction will be over and it is just a mental battle from here on out healthy smoke free you against Dr brain who knows how a ciggy will fix what it thinks is bothering you. find womething distracting to do instead like exercise and soon Dr brain will lose interest in ciggies.

        Hi Carolyn,

You go Girl !!!! I salute you for doing this !!! Show us all that you can do it !!!!

I am a smoker too and is trying to cut down to the point were I can eventually give it up. I’m down to about 4 a day. It gets difficult at night because Hubby is also a smoker.

But, I’ve made up my mind that I want to be a non-smoker by the end of this year. Hope I can do it !!!

        Good luck to you.

Way to go Carolyn. I was never a smoker, but I've heard it's good to work with your hands when you crave a cig. Maybe you can find a new hobby. Scrapbooking, crocheting, woodworking? something like that I guess.

Well my 4th day is finished.. It was not as bad as the three others. I eat cinamon sticks to give my hands somthing to hold.. I also take nicorette gum.. oh well bed time .. Thank-you for being there.

Good for you Carolyn492! You're doing great. After 3 days the nicotine is out of your system. You'll still have the mental urges, but the physical ones are gone.

While I know you've already quit, I would really encourage you to pick up Allen Carr's "Easy way to stop smoking". You can find it at Barnes & Noble, or order it from there online. it'll give you great peace of mind and help strengthen your resolve. I never would have made it without that book, and neither would have a couple others on here (Brook for one).

Definately add me to the list here! I'm going to give going2's recommendation a solid second. The book is an absolute life saver for want-to-be-nonsmokers!!

Congrats on getting this far! Well done!!!

Hope you're still doing well. 4 days is great!

Just my 2 cents, but I bought that book since everyone was raving about it. It didn't do a thing for me and was a very annoying read.

Hang in there, it's tough. This Thanksgiving will be my 1 year anniversary after about a 15 year smoking habit. I used the patch, and don't think I would have been able to quit without it. The patch and kept my hands busy! You will do it!

oh no you are using the nicatine gum?? so you are backing out slowly? oh cold turkey is much easier as your physical addction is gone in 3 days.

I understand what you are saying 2 big4mysize...my aunt got addicted to the nicotine gum! For me the patch was easier than cold turkey because I only had to deal with one aspect of quitting-the hand to mouth movement. As I went down in milligrams of nicotine, one day I realized I forgot to change my patch...then I realized I didn't need it anymore.

Good luck Carolyn. I know it's one of the toughest things you'll ever accomplish. Just out of curiousity, what made you start again on Saturday...was there a event, or place, or feeling?
