Your sister is a wonderful woman who knows the risks she's taking to help someone else. I don't know her but I am in awe of her. One amazing woman to go through what she has and will come from family and to give of herself despite it. She will reap many blessings from this and my prayers are with her.

WOW! Your sister is a very good person to do something like that to help another. Is the person getting it someone you know? Prayers to you and your family.

yes... she knows him.. his wife.. and little girl.. her own little girl and HIS little girl are the same age... 9

she went to high school with him.. now to church with them

he's on dialysis.. and doing pretty well... he's been on the list for a few months... my sis got impatient and had private testing done... and it's looking like she's a match....

Re: my sis is giving a kidney..

Wow - what an amazing woman. It's a subject close to my heart as my Dad recently had renal failure whilst having acute pneumonia. He was in intensive care and went on dialysis. Thankfully, they think his kidneys will recover (he has been off the dialysis for 2 weeks) but I did think about the possibility of giving a kidney if need be.

Lots of love to you and your sister x

Re: my sis is giving a kidney..

Your sister is very special. I know someone who was on "the list" for years and never did get a new kidney, unfortunatley she died at a very very young age. Its wonderful that she can donate and is willing to help save a friends life!

What a special person she is to do this!! I hope it all goes smoothly for both of them!

I had some excitement a number of years ago when I was called for further testing because I was a partial match for bone marrow. I was the first person in my city to be called in after they had their big drive to get unrelated bone marrow participants. I was crushed when I found out I wasn't a full match. Bone marrow is a walk in the park compared to giving a kidney though...wow...
