My 13 year old wants a tartan kilt from my husband's clan. I've asked him and it's all he wants! This kid is 5'11", plays the bassoon, is in 7th grade and now he wants a skirt.

This was the subject over breakfast with DH and I just this morning. Mine are 18 and 19 years old. Its hard to shop for them. Not to mention just not as fun as it once was when I could go to toys r us and have a ball trying out all the toys beforehand.

My daughter wants cold hard cash to get a cell phone plan of her own. Since she has no credit it requires a sizeable cash outlay for them to "hold on to" for a year. She also doesnt want to have Mom and Dad do it for her. She likes how it feels to pay her own way. (better yet I guess when that cash outlay doesnt come from her savings! lol)

My son is the older one and could come up with a list that would span the earth twice if you ask him! Playstation games are always at the top of that list.

I am planning on stocking stuffers of gas cards, movie passes etc.......

Lynne-- yours get gas cards. Mine get gas. It's a thing.

Terry-- originality is one thing, but I swear he'll try to wear it to school. Then I have to accesorize with the little sock pompons. And I absolutely draw the line at tam o shanters.

My little girl loves Sailor Moon so I'm buying *her* all the DVDs from all the seasons! WOOHOO! I can't wait to watch them. I also got her some Sailor Moon dolls at ebay.

The younger boy and older girl got sparring gear for their Russian martial arts class. It was spendy. They'll receive some other cursory things, but they're pretty much covered. My girl has pink sparring gear! We girls can smack anyone in the face, right Barbie?

DH is in the wargame thing so I can kinda relate. At least he hasn't dressed up like Neopleon yet. So I guess I'm still ok.

I have 2 boys both 15 but with very different interests and still the best of friends. Billie wants anything to do with skateboarding and Woody likes cooking and girls. I'm all for the cooking utensils but he'll have to get the girls on his own.

Of course video games are always a must have. Clothes, they are getting into the age where that stuff matters. But I still slip in the usual mom stuff, underwear and personal hygeine items.

I'm going to get my son Billie his own Oral B electric toothbrush this year to take to his fathers house. And DH is getting his son Woody a Waterpik, I'm sure these will be this years favorite gifts of all

This appears to be a fairly simple Christmas for me. DS is 7 and really into hot wheels and trucks and radio-controlled vehicles. That goes along with his near-obsession with dragons and dinosaurs. I've been buying presents since summer so I'm in good shape. It's hard to believe that this is the same little tyke who has a baby doll named Jenna. A few weeks ago he announced that we had to go to the store and get her a new outfit...so we did. Does he embrace his masculine AND feminine side or what?? lol

When he was 2, the only thing he wanted for Christmas was a butterfly balloon. seriously.

oh my gosh I'm so laughing at the requests! How cool Jamie he plays the bassoon, myy eldest plays the cello! I have 2 girls aged 10 and 6 and they want (typical) everything that has recent ads on tv!! LOL!! Actually the elder wants anything DOLPHIN or Harry Potter, she's got much of her list up on amazon.com The younger is mostly happy with anything, she's fairly easy to please. I've got no brilliant ideas so I'm still searching what to get them! I just LOVE to blow them away with 1 special thing!

What a variety on here. My two year old is getting a train table and train set made out of wood. My eight year old is getting a Game Boy Advance and a new winter coat. My 11 year old is getting a desk for her room and a cheapo digital camera. My 21 year old stepson is getting cash and Oreos. He is in the Marines and the only thing he has asked for are Oreos.

Cleo- I want to see pictures of the kilt if you get it.

I was in the book store yesterday and found a wonderful book on Napoleon. I grabbed it and paid for it before I could think about it (it cost 59 american!). My son is really into Napoleon and has been for a few years. I have been looking for a book, any book since then! What makes this book even better is that it is in norwegian and I just know Chase is going to freak when he see's it!
Other then that some games for his X box.
This year is a little sad because its the first year I know he doesn't believe in Santa. But Santa is getting him a little something anyway!

My stepdaughter is 13 and i'm having a really tough time with what to buy her.

She wants a cell phone, i'm not quite sure if i want to get her one yet. Not sure she's old enough..and honestly as big of a gadget/electronics geek as i am (i have a pager, cell, blackberry, 2 laptops,2 xboxs, pc etc etc LOL) I absolutely can't stand teenagers, or really anyone, walking around talking on phone constantly..it drives me nuts! and i think it's so rude. I don't want her to get like that. I usually turn mine off in public and when i'm driving.

I'll probably give in though and get her one (pay as you go so i'm not stuck with the bill..she has a p/t job), cuase i can't think of anything else. Along with that probably just clothes, girly makeup things etc.

the other kids in my family are mid-late teens and i have to buy for 4 of them, so this is a great thread for me..looking for lots of ideas! I'llb e doing some xmas shopping on a businees trip to montreal in the next couple of weeks hoping i'll get some really different stuff there too.

DD, on the other hand, is a BIG help and has a list a mile long. One of the items she wants is a Plug n'Play 80's version Arcade Game for your TV...it has PacMan and she loves that one! Who would have thought with all the new games they have with outstanding graphics she'd want one of the first video games!

I have that game Sheshy! I love it..so does my stepdaughter, and it only cost about $25! It's exactly like the old pacman, and it also has Galaga which was one of my favoriet games too.

Jen my 12 yr old neice asked for a cell. her folks are considering the one at www.fireflymobile.com which is a pay as you go and allows the parents to limit the phone (parental PIN for adding up to 20 numbers and keeping off calls from anyone NOT on the list).

Kathy...does your eldest know about the store called Hot Topic?? They have a good supply of Harry Potter stuff right now...clothing, etc. They have a website at www.hottopic.com, then click on the Harry Potter link...
