  • Don't delay GO TODAY! Yes YOU!!

I don't normally do things like this, I am pretty much private and am not a cheerleader for any causes - BUUUUUUUUUUT:

I went to donate blood yesterday. I was told that the shortage is so bad at this stage that no operations can be scheduled in my town. With the school holidays and accidents and stuff, they REAAAAALLLLY need blood! So why not go today and do your good deed for the day, 10 minutes of your time and a little needle could save a little baby's life, or yours if you need it..

    So go. Now. Donate.

    Wow, good cause.

I've opted out the last few times the blood mobile has come to my work. I bet with the holidays and all the accident that seem to follow there will be a greater need.

I'll go do my part. Who knows maybe I'll lose a pound.

Very good post. I donate blood every few months and have been doing it for many years. Like they say here in Canada.....blood, it's in you to give.

        Excellent post!!!

Blood banks also need plasma, so if you have a little extra time, please consider donating that as well.

I used to be a blood doner, but I'm not allowed to do that anymore...sigh...so I encourage you all to get out there and give!
I have a rare blood type too, and it was comical how they'd get all excited when they found that out...lol

Let's take this on a personal level, for those of you reluctant to donate: I have a condition that doesn't allow my body to clear away clots once they form, so I have to be on blood thinners which means my blood doesn't clot properly now, so it takes a long time for bleeding to stop.
YOUR blood could be the blood that saves my life if something (God forbid) happens to me.

So I encourage you to go...honestly, it's an amazing feeling to be a part of something like that!

I'm not allowed to donate because I have a tattoo! Sad but true.

Great post! I donated blood for the first time a few months ago...I was scared but it was not bad at all! I will be eligible to donate again in a few weeks and I am hoping the bloodmobile will come back to my work (we get 4 hours off for donating). I strongly encourage those who have never donated to at least give it a try! And don't let them con you into eating any sugar! lol

OMG, allie! you are so right!

                Take along a hard-boiled egg.

Don't eat the stuff they try to offer afterwards...cookies and orange juice? Whatevah!

                  I've had Hepatitis B so I can't donate either.

Only for a while (I think a year) after you've gotten it.

I donated a week or so ago. Can donate again in 57 days (end of Jan). Am thinking about the plasma or platelets, which can be donated weekly, but can't start until the 57 days are up from the last whole-blood donation.
