BOGALUSA, La. - A mother was booked on a charge of first-degree murder for allegedly placing her 3-month-old son in a clothes dryer and turning it on.

The infant had third-degree burns over 50 percent of his body and suffered blunt force trauma to the head, the St. Tammany Parish coroner said.

Police Sgt. Darryl Darden said Lakeisha Adams, 18, called police to her home on Monday to report that someone had killed her child. When officers arrived, they found Jailand Adams on a sofa. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The article said "If" she's convicted she'll be given a leathal injection. Ah, no. "When" she is convicted the state needs to find a dryer big enough to stuff her in and turn it on and let her go round and round so she understands what all she did. (I forgot to say, with the same results as what happened to her baby) That poor little baby.

Could this be a case of post partum?
I knew someone who went through a bad time after her baby was born, and I swear she was a totally different person, it was so sad. She had horrible thoughts in her head about her baby, but luckily she shared it all with her family and they got her the help she needed.
A year or so later, she said it just seemed so rational to her at the time to feel she needed to stop the baby from crying, and that freaked her out when she had regained her health.
Just my 2 cents.

You know Moochie post partum depression that bad I think is really hard for anyone who hasn't been thru it to understand (i haven't had children so i can't comprehend it myself), but I do believe it is real. A few years ago a young toronto Dr. (I think she was a psychiatrist, and so was her husband) jumped in front of a subway with her young son in her arms (just over a month old i believe). Both were killed. People were so outraged, but it's obvious that this was a post partum depression case, but people just couldn't comprehend it. She was actually under a suicide watch in her parents home and managed to sneak out of the house with the baby without anyone knowing.

I think it's very sad, and the fact that it's not understood doesn't help those who suffer from it. The guilt of having those thoughts about your own baby must be horrific. I think it should be discussed more. I think it was great of Brooke Shields to come forward and discuss her own battle with it...

I haven't had kids either but having known this girl before during and after, it's a very real thing and it's just heartbreaking.
I'm glad about Brooke Shields coming forward as well, and I hope to heck Katie doesn't get it after her and Tommy's baby is born...even if it would teach him something about hormones.

I'm glad Brooke came out and spoke about it too...it is heartbreaking. I had a friend that dealt with it for almost a year after her son was born. Very, very sad, and very, very real.

Oh, and Tom Cruise is an idiot...period.
