I have a 97 Nissan Sentra which I had bought with only 60,000 miles on it back in 2000 for around 9K (plus interest). I have calculated that it will hit 200,000 miles in September of '06. I've taken such good care of it, although being hard on it at the same time, that I'm pretty sure it will last to 250,000 which will be just under 3 years from now. If I could keep it until 300,000 miles, I could save up enough to buy another car with low mileage and burn that one up 300,000.
My dad usually buys cars at around 180K miles and will usually get them to run to about 400K or so...these cars are usually Datsuns or BMW's.
Anyone ever kept a car that long? What kind of car was it? How long will you keep your current one? What do you look for in a car? And how much are you willing to spend on repairs before you just get another car?!?!?????
