Not a Christmas present but a birthday present. My cousin and I were born 2 days apart, so when we were young our families would celebrate our birthdays together. Anyhow, when we were 13 years old, he bought for me a football and cleets. That little booger thought I would give them back to him. Well, I didn't. I kept them.

A set of THREE handmade *huge* wicker type wall fan things, with peach ribbon and icky peach flowers glued on. (my colors at the time were green and burgundy, peach would have been my least favorite color) These things were totally hideous, and my SIL made such a production bringing the gift in, and mentioned a hundred times that she'd put alot of love and time into them for me!

My dh got me a steering wheel cover in blue now how lame was that and I bought him a gold watch , but this year he had better not get me nothing stupid or practical, or I will take his gift right back to the store.

When I was 19 the "love of my life" bought me marble horse shaped bookends. I had been hoping for a ring of some sort. I looked perplexed and he said "but you love to read". mmm hmmm. For my birthday the following year he got me a hand-held calculator. He knew I was mathematically challenged. However, as you say....who buys a 19 year old girl these things??? I married him anyway. Aaaaaand divorced him 4 years later. I think the bookends should have been my first clue that he was not the one for me. lolol

Not really a gift..... maybe? You know how us parents "play Santa". One year, instead of filling our stockings with what you normally fill stockings with, my Mother put a note in our stockings that said "SORRY". No nuts, no candy, no coal. Just a note.


She laughed off 20 lbs........ I was little and I cried.......

From my In laws for my birthday - a box of batteries with a bottle of 3X1 oil. I never figured out if they were trying to tell me something or if they just rummaged thru a drawer until they found something to throw in a box and put a bow around?

OH dear!

My sister and brother are 14 and 12 years older than me respectively, and they told me the story of when they were like, 4 and 6 and our Dad had this HUGE box under the tree for them. Inside that box was another box, and inside that, another..and so on. It went from being this big box, to a tiny box, and in the tiny box was an unshelled peanut!
I used to laugh and laugh when I was reminded of that story, but my sister set me straight one year when she said they were just devastated and of course, being so young, there's no way they could see any humour in that at all! My parents were such sweet calm people and what posessed my Dad to do this is beyond us...lol

MOG, Nope, never beena bird lover or owned a bird in my life..so very thoughtfully my mother in law was nice enough to put a statue of two ceramic doves in the cage..that just made me love it that much more .

If i remember i'll actually post a picture of it tomorrow (doves and all)..not like it's going anywhere anytime soon

MOG, Nope, never beena bird lover or owned a bird in my life..so very thoughtfully my mother in law was nice enough to put a statue of two ceramic doves in the cage..that just made me love it that much more .
