Let's concentrate on the positives in our lives!

    1. I took a sign language class, which was something I always wanted to do "when I had the time". My greatest accomplishment is that I can sign alittle and I haven't offended anyone..yet.

    2. I lost a dress size between spring and fall. I still feel "weird" shopping for smaller sizes, but I'm hoping my brain will eventually accept that I really am smaller.

    3. I found an old pair of pants and I was able to fit into 1 leg. Yes, I was able to fit myself into one leg!

    4. I'm happy with how my vegetable garden grew this year. Next year I plan to grow a few other veggies and herbs.

    5. I learned that I am sensitive to certain wheat products because whenever I eat them my asthma acts up (explains why pre-Atkins, my asthma was getting worse and worse and worse!)

    1. I consolidated my weight loss.

    2. I rediscovered cycling.

    3. I have been granted an extension of Commissioned Service in the British Army in a significant appointment in Germany which will guarantee my military salary till I am almost 60 - and of course icreases the final pension! This, I believe, would have been more difficult to get if I had been 60lb heavier.

Thank you Dr Atkins. Thank you ADBB.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

              Re: 2005 in Review

I'm still thinking about it. The piano hasn't moved in the house with me yet, but probably will in the next 3 or 4 months. On the other hand, if I take piano, at least my fingers and wrists will be in shape from the sign language..lol.

I really enjoyed my beginning sign language course (alot more than I thought I would!). I wish they offered that as a "foreign language" when I was in school. Anyhow, I did my sign language at my community center ($50 tuition as opposed to $500 at the community college!). There were other students in my class who took the community college course before and they said our course was comparable and less stressful (ie: no examinations). I'll probably take another class during the summer course session.

                Re: 2005 in Review

                1. I lived in three different places (dorm --> bad apartment w/ bad roommate --> good apartment w/ good roommate)
                2. I began and ended one fabulous internship where, while only doing boring work, I met a lot of fabulous people and learned a lot.
                3. I was "betrayed" by 2 best friends, but got bigger, stronger, and moved on (I only need positive, supportive people in my life!).
                4. I maintained my academic scholarship and decided to go for an Islamic Studies minor (both are not easy feats!)
                5. And most importantly--I decided to take control of my eating and my lifestyle, losing 35 pounds, joining a supportive community, and begun to exercise regularly for the first time in my life and knowing that the rest will come off when it's ready (no anxiety for me, not this time!).

                I AM HAPPY!!

                  Re: 2005 in Review

ok I had to think a min because so much has happened this year

my family is intact and doing well

I did not have a single sick day from work this year ..that is 2 years in a row with out illness (knock wood) for any of us in my family ..couple of false "I think I am sick" then it faded.

today I got stopped and let off again for speeding that is good

(note to self make resolution not to speed anymore your luck is running out)

I made my wt goal and then dropped below it and kept it off ..also good

I kept all my resolutions that I made last year ....that is a miracle so I am going to push the envelope and try some harder ones this year

I was able to donate quite a bit of money to our local food bank due to a couple of windfalls I did not expect...felt awesome...

                  finished projects I started ...

still have plenty of work ...

the list goes on and on ....

the best part of this year is that the bad stuff that did happen faded fast ...and the good stuff seems to stick better than ever..maybe that is my age I don't know

My big things were getting a new job after 15 months unemployed, and starting Atkins on the same day and losing 50lbs! It has done wonders for my self-esteem! And my other half got a job as well, permanent part time, in April, so it was a good year for us.
