I was really giggling about the story today when it showed pictures of "Faris Hassan" (aka Ferris Bueller! hehe) arriving back in Miami, Florida. It just looked like the perfect story for a good movie or something. I believe the guy had the right intentions of going there, and did not mean to cause any problems, but he just did not really calculate h is risks very well at all! Interesting story though.

Man, and I thought I was bad for sneaking out to go out with my friends in high school. I never tried to leave the continent for goodness sakes!

An article I read over the weekend said he attends some sort of Prep School, and the money is money that his parents gave him. Can you say rich kid?

His mother, Shatha Atiya, told CBS television a few days ago: "We are going to watch his every move. We are going to take his passport. We're going to limit his access to money."
I guess his mother thinks he might try it again.

I think his parents are loaded with money. There was a pic on the yahoo news photos of his mom in their living room, and the furniture looked pretty "poshy". I think his father is a doctor or something.

Good idea for the parents to take his passport at least and not let him have access to money...

Gee, limiting your teenager's access to money...What a novel idea.

Maybe I had a weird upbringing because when I was a teenager, we had to check in with mom and dad if we spent the night over a friend's house or if we were getting home late. In fact, the rule was if you leave the house, you have to tell mom or dad where you were going, with whom you were going, and what time you were returning. If not, mom would be calling all your friends and the neighbors for your whereabouts and dad would be driving around looking for you. Once you got home (oh boy!), you better have a good excuse or else you wouldn't be allowed outside unsupervised until you were married!

editing to add...Seriously, I wonder when that poor kid's parents figured out he wasn't coming downstairs in the morning for breakfast?

Those were the good ol' days MoG!

But really, the story that's been revealed doesn't ring true to me---unless those parents are the type who don't get a rat's *** where their child is (which unfortunately does happen).

I agree, it all sounds a little far fetched to me as well. Oh well, I'm sure time will tell unless everyone loses interest in the story it will all probably come out eventually.
