But the protein content is much higher than most meats! check it out

The meat of the GP is wholesome and delicious. It has a protein content of about 21%, which is higher than the protein content of poultry, pork, mutton or beef. Its fat content is about 8%, which is lower than that of each of the other meats mentioned above (Huss and Roca 1982).

The following comes from that arcicle that Piasbird posted

33. Shark

Don't be fooled by those sharp teeth - these days Jaws is more endangered than dangerous. Shark's fin soup has long been a Chinese delicacy, counted as one of the pu foods (foods that are meant to endow the eater with the qualities of the animal being eaten), with a reputation for strengthening and repairing the human body. Nowadays, shark is sought after as a highly exotic, and highly expensive, commodity. The fin of a whale shark, for instance, can fetch over £10,000. Shark's fin soup, which usually has a base of a rich chicken broth, has a gelatinous quality of remarkable texture and is extremely high in protein. However, unless you're feeling particularly flush, or plan to catch it yourself, maybe a tuna sandwich is a safer, cheaper, and possibly more ethical seafood option.

I ate shark on my last holiday to Budapest (Hungary). It was really nice. I had shark steak, not shark fin soup. It was a meaty fish and I would recomend it to everyone.

Heidi! How did they serve it to you? Was it like this?
"It looked a bit like crispy duck with its leg in the air and its head intact, but still with its front teeth and whiskers."
That was taken from the article I posted earlier.

Heidi, here are some guinea pig recipes for the food and cooking forum since you are the hostess and they're Atkins friendly. http://gosouthamerica.about.com/od/cuisine/a/cuy.htm

Thanks for the suggestion about trying shark, Rich. I've thought about doing that before. I'd like to get even with them for biting into so many of us humans!

Actually Shark is delicious as Rich said! Grilled Mako Shark steaks are very similar in texture to a tender pork chop! Many people who aren't big fish fans find that they really like shark if they are willing to at least give it a taste! I worked in seafood restaurants for about 10 years and I have seen many a people surprised at how much they liked shrak even though they were skeptics!
