  • What NOT to read when you feel down from the winter walls closing in around you...

ok do not think for one moment the book House of Wind and Fog

will cheer you up at all on any level ..wonderful book if you like to sob until you puke...

and do not thing for one moment you will get a laugh out of rereading a classic like Jack London's Call of The Wild
omg how can it still cause so many tears??????

oh yeah ..one of the worst for absolutely weirding out a person to the point of sleepless nights wondering why the **** you thought it would be good to read a book called Geek Love ????? avoid that unless you thrive on twisted...

anyone else have a book to avoid when you are already in a funk?

Any book by Stephen King, especially his scary ones. Not good to be stuck in the house terrified of monsters in your closet. lol

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. This book made me so depressed and frustrated that I actually threw it across the room in disgust and made my dh put it in the trash (and I would normally NEVER throw out a book!)

On the Beach by Nevil Shute a book about people in Australia waiting for a cloud of deadly radioactive material to kill them. Don't get me wrong it's a wonderfully written book. And if you aren't in a depressed mood, it's great "read and think about it" type book.

"The Selfish Giant" short story by Oscar Wilde. I cry like a baby whenever I read that.
