My boss (who quit recently btw) was one of my regular customers at the bar where I bartended. He tried to talk me into working for him for years! I finally gave in when the bar was sold to new owners who I didn't like. So I took this job as a full time day job and picked up a couple of shifts at another neighborhood pub and nite and on the weekends!

I moved to Florida and had a really crappy job with a temp agency, and one Saturday morning, while I was at the pool, my neighbor started chit chatting with me, asked where I'm from, what do I do, blah blah blah. When I told her I was working for a temp agency and didn't enjoy it, she gave me her boss's number and told me to call her. I've been working here ever since.

I actually put "other" because I just walked into the bosses office ..there wasn't any pavement ...

(giggle) Heidi, you are a nut!! When I put "pounding the pavement" I meant that you went in person to look for a job rather than mailing in a resume. So, in that case...would you think you went in person to get this job? Or do you still think it applies under "other"?

One of the reasons I was curious about how everyone found their job is that my DH usually goes through websites and they don't seem to get much response. I wanted to see if anyone else had any luck with them. And, if not, how do most people get their jobs. Maybe it would motivate/inspire him if he saw some actual results somewhere. Knowwhatimean?

Kinda cool that she hired you right off the bat like that. You must have made a very good impression. Hum...you weren't out spreading out your resumes like I envisioned for the PtheP one, but zeroed in on one and just got it from a posting. Other sounds good to me.

I was already working for the state, and my bf who i also worked with me knew i was very very unhappy with my boss so he gave me an application to another state job, i got it and transfered to the courts dept from the corrections dept and got a $3.35 an hour raise... best thing i could have done...

Originally started here via a temping agency, did a few different temping jobs, and then contacted them independantly a couple of months later and started.

My DH doesn't like his current job and is still looking and thinks there are no jobs out there...so I'm bumping this up.

I'm trying to encourage him to go through employment agencies since they would have the scoop on what's happening in an area.

I went to a local hotel, where they were holding a jobs fayre.

Almost wish I'd never gone. This job's given me nothing but greif for 2 years...

And I say that because I'm leaving to start my own business at the end of the month! (Well, already started, but ssssh, they don't know that yet haha)
