  • War of the Worlds Ripoff!!

So we rented War of the Worlds today and about 20 minutes into it bf says "Isn't Tom Cruise supposed to be in this?" He finally gave up on the movie and went to have a nap but I stuck it out. No Tom Cruise whatsoever.

What we rented was War of the Worlds with C. Thomas Howell....and not the Speilberg version!
Are we the only ones to know that there were two current versions of the movie out there? We just grabbed the dvd and rented it automatically assuming we had the one we wanted.

The movie starts out really good, then the editing makes it super herky jerky...and the end looked patched together...it was pretty pathetic.

They always do that with remakes, rerelease the old version, they did it with the grudge too, which is confusing. I'm sure if you go back to the video store and explain what happened they would let you rent the other for free.
