    Re: Do you believe...

I used to think the whole conspiracy thing was a load of bunk. BUt more and more each day as I learn't about BIG Governement and BIG corporate lies, I kinda think, yeah it was a hoax.
The important thing to the US Government at the time was not weither they 'actually' went to the moon or not, but that the US citizens and Russian citizens 'believed' that they did, and they certaintly achieved that!

Okay,..... I'm off to the Nut-House now!!!!

I guess I don't think it was a lie. I hear we got a lot of scientific breakthroughs in the whole race to the moon thing. The government could have played with us-it gets a little bit philosophical-you know, Descarte-"How do I know that chair is really there".

Besides "winning" what to they think is the purpose for the government lying?

          NASA's take on it:

I believe it was real, i dont think they were sophisticated enough back then to fake it that well...

Yes, I definitely believe we put people on the moon. I also believe that it was all about the race to do it first, and safety wasn't an issue. The reason I think we haven't been doing it lately is because of funding and support for NASA. They changed directions when people started to become disinterested in moonshots and wanted to have a working space station, which required a vehicle that could bring bigger payloads into space, hence the shuttle. We all know how well that has (not) worked out. Do I think we'll be back on the moon again? Yes, but not soon. Other than exploration I don't see the need. And yes, I think that someday we'll be sending manned missions to Mars too. Just my opinion.
