    How cool is this!

    Some of you know I have a new job. These very kind people have already taken me in well, and at the consultants conference on Monday, asked if I would like to have some special foods arranged due to my "eating". Whcih of course was really nice of them!

    Anyway it gets better! I have only been with the company for exactly a month now!

    For my birthday today, they have given me a card, a little book of drink coasters and vouchers for a high street store for £25! (approx us$ 44).

    Very kind of them.

    I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

    Very nice. You are very lucky. What a nice day you are having. What's a high street? Is that like downtown? Or is it a ritzy shopping area?

            A high street store = A certain shop that is in most towns. Does that make it any clearer?

              OH! Like a department store. Is Highstreet the name of the store or does it just mean "national chain"?

                No the store is called "Burtons", i was talking in code to try not to plug the shop LOL.

                Most towns in England have a "burton", and stores that are in most towns are also occasionally referred to as "high street stores".

                Confusing isnt it? LOL

                  But in books they say they are going shopping "in the high street". So where are they going? I'm assuming they don't mean literally the highest street in town. Do they?

                    A high street is the sort of main shopping street in a town!

                    Except for big cities, as these cities have "malls", which I know you are familiar with

                          A high street is the sort of main shopping street in a town!
                          That's kinda what I figured. So what's Burtons? A men's store? Doesn't sound like they sell nighties there.
