  • Such a dangerous sport!

Some of you may know that I have recently started playing squash. I am joining a league now and have decided that the next best step is to make sure I understand the rules fully! I know most of them, but some of them were a litte "wooly".

Anyway a friend has sent me an easy to read break down.

Rule 16 = Bleeding, Illness and Injury.

Apparently if a player is bleeding and it was caused by his/her opponent, then the opponent loses the game.

Also apparently, if a player vomits on the court, then he also loses!

    What a rough game!!!!

I just thought it looked so wierd to have those "rules" written down.

Btw Stephanie, when I was playing last weekend i was trying to second guess where my opponent was going to hit the ball. I got in the way of his racquet and he it me during his back swing just above my eye.

Rather painful to say the least.

So if a player causes himself to bleed does he then lose the game.
Also what if he vomits on his opponent and not on the court itself, is it ok.

So basically, don't play with a wicked hang over and try not to hit the other guy hard enough to make him bleed, is that it? No problem

Even if it is the ugly view or awful smell of the other player upsetting his/her stomach?

I rememeber in college taking a racketball course and they told us to use our bodies to cut off the court our opponent can hit to and since they only make it a do over if you hit the opponent with the ball. Seems top racketball players are polit and will not smack thier oponents and will only hit it to the area of the front wall they can access without smacking the oponent. the kid the instructor had selected to demonstrate this with hit the ball as hard as he could right in the derier of the instructor and then said since i get a do over on this point and now you can't move so well for the rest of this match should we really use our bodies to cut off the court?

Do you eat squash while playing squash? Do you get squashed (apparently according to the rules)
