  • Did anyone record Torino Olympics?

Did anyone here record the Torino Olympics? I'm looking for the opening and closing ceremonies. The nordic combined events would be fantastic also.

This was the first Olympics for my nephew, Jason Lamy Chappuis. He's 19 and skis for France. He finished 4th in the nordic combined sprint last Tuesday, and thankfully I do have that recorded!

We didn't buy our dvd recorder until after I missed seeing Jason's first Nordic Combined event on the first day of the Olympics, the individual gunderson. He tied for 3rd in the jumps and came in 11th on the race. My recording of the closing ceremonies last night shut off early and I missed a lot of it. Video tape is fine also (ours plays fine but doesn't record well at all).

I'd feel lucky to find even one person with any of these who'd be willing to share, but if I could find copies from anyone in other countries also that would be wonderful, since what was broadcast would be somewhat different. Our copy of the N/C team event didn't show Jason at all.

Wow, that's fantastic. You must be proud. Unfortunately, I didn't tape it either. I'm going through Olympic withdrawal! We had 24 hour olympic coverage. It was great! I love the winter games.

        I am SOOO jealous!

With the official passing of the games on to Vancouver, I am already excited for the 2010 games!! Are you anywhere within range of there or across the country? It'll be a 13-14 hour drive for us. We'll definitely be there if Jason is... and that is looking very good.

This photo is from Jason's first jump during the first competition.

          From France's Nordic Combined site:
What an amazing and excellent Tuesday for Jason Lamy Chappuis. The 19-year-old talented French was 2nd after the skijumping and reached a phenomenal 4th place after the cross country skiing. This guy has much potential considering he is only 19 years old and he can already match with the world's best sportsmen. Congratulations to Jason!!
Jason's parents rented a bus so many friends and family from their village could go to see him compete last Tuesday. It was about a 6 hour trip, and other people from their town drove to see his event also.

Linda, I taped every night (on very late here) but only the closing ceremony is left. I put them on the hard drive, watched them next day and then wiped them off. So sorry. But the closing ceremony is still on HD, can copy it to a DVD for you if you like. Let me know. I haven't watched it yet so don't know how much of your team you will see.

Thank you, Odille. (((hug))) I did find a copy of the opening and closing ceremonies. Now I'm just looking for the first day's events if anyone might have those. A long shot, but you never know!
