I was wondering, where and how did you meet your SO?
Anyone has some nice romantic stories??

Here is mine...

I met my bf (soon to be husband) online in April 2003. We were both dating other ppl and we used to chat about books and music, and one thing left to the other. We started dating in Sptember but we only met IRL in December, when I came here to meet him and his family.

We decided we were going to move in together. I returned to my country, sold my apartment and asked for a leave from my job.

He visited me during Easter that year so he could meet my family, and specially my parents.

I moved here in JUly 2004. By that time we had only spent 3 weeks together.

My bf works and I (aged 33) went back to school to learn swedish, Im now doing the high school level, (hard for someone with a masters degree ), but this is the only way I can try to adapt to this new culture and society.

We live in a big old apartment in the centre of a small city in the south of Sweden, with our two fluffy babies.
It is hard to live so far from my family and friends, but Im happy here. I have my prince, I cant ask for anything else.

I put an ad for a penfriend in a personals newspaper. Had a few replies but Warwick's was the standout. I felt as if I ws reading a letter I could have written myself. At that time he lived 1000km away! Then, a month or so later, a temp job for 3 days a week/6months came up in my section of the government (Emergency Management back then) and he applied and we met and voila! 9 year anniversary on 12 March.


Turns out we are both journalist, he by on the job cadetship and me by degree, and we have many shared interests. So glad I put that ad in!

it was the weekend of my 25th birthday, I'd been out the night before having a good time - driving home I stopped to put air in my tires. I was watching to see if the tire was filling up, didn't look like it, so I tossed the air hose to the side figuring it didn't work and drove home. Had a heck of a time keeping my car on the road. Got up the next morning, you know just rolled out of bed - in sweats, a cut up t shirt (hey it was the 80s!) and went out to my car. I noticed some guy working on his car a few spaces over and I said "Hey you!" DH looked then I said "come here". I ended up having too much air in one tire.
We dated for over a month before I knew his name. Seriously, I couldn't understand him, he talked funny. Norwegian accent -

I went to high school with my fella but we weren't interested in each other then.....well, there was one feeble attempt on my part right after graduation when I got him drunk at a party at my house and tried to come on to him...lol It failed pretty badly but it was ok, we were a couple of drunk teenagers.
He went off to college and we kept in touch for a while but that faded away. I ended up marrying another classmate of ours and we had a 10 year relationship altogether before we split up.
I woke up one morning on a sunday, really early, and another classmate of ours popped into my head. I was filled with the burning desire to get a hold of him. I called directory assistance for the city I thought he was in but there was no listing for him. For some reason, my fella's name popped out (even though the last I heard from him he was living in a city about an hour and a half away). Turns out they had a listing for him!
I called, with the sole intent to get our mutual friend's contact info and we had a few phone conversations. It ended up with the two guys coming for a visit. We laugh now because I remember thinking how excited I was to see the one guy but I was pretty ambivalent to see my fella.
Our relationship caught us by surprise. I won't say it was love at first sight, but it grew into a long distance relationship for a few years and then I finally packed up and moved from my hometown to where he lived.
Best decision I've ever made in my life!

I met my husband on a vacation in Cuba. It was under kinda weird circumstances. I was in my third year at University. At that time I was living at home and commuting to school by train. I happened to run into a girlfriend that I had known as a kid and really hadn't seen since we were about twelve years old. She had just started teaching and was telling me how she really wanted to get away for spring break. Very impulsively I said I'd go with her as I was getting so tired of writing essays. I just said you pick a place and I'll go. This was about three weeks before spring break. Not my spring break either, just the elementary and high schools. I knew I was doing a stupid thing academically, but just had to. Anyways, I managed to get my passport and stuff and one week before our trip I ended up in the hospital having had a severe asthma attack. I was in for the entire week, right up until the Saturday of our departure. I begged the doctor to let me go and he finally consented although I was loaded up with medication. It wasn't until that day I found out where we were going as it was a last minute deal. So, I jumped on a plane to Cuba with a friend I hadn't seen in ten years and met a guy from Toronto which was just 40 minutes from where I lived and where I went to school. At the time I had a boyfriend. In fact, I was engaged, so there was no hanky panky in Cuba. It was weird. When I met Paul in Cuba...I just knew we were gonna end up together. That was umm....21 years ago and we've never been happier! It was totally meant to be!

It was a blind date ... arranged by my brother who worked with DH. We were all set up to go to the company Christmas party together only DH wanted to meet me first, so the week before, he came to my door and we spent the entire day together ..

3 months later, WE WERE MARRIED! That was 28 years ago and we're still each other's best friend! Who, but a man who loves me, would ride a bicycle behind me every Saturday morning on the Tampa Bay Trail as I run 20+ miles just to make sure I'm safe?? He was at my latest marathon, pacing where I'd be at certain times and driving to those points to cheer me on. When I got to the finish line of those 26.2 miles, he was there cheering all the way. I told him he deserves the medal as much as I do for being such a wonderfully supportive husband.

I met mine on vacation in January 2004. My best friend and I decided to book to go on vacation unexpectedly, we arrived in the US, and he was working at the hotel we had been booked into at the front desk.

He asked me out, and we went on a couple of dates, and then it was time for me to return home. Three months later, I graduated from college, quit my job and went back to the US.

And 2 years later, we're still going strong!

I also met my DH on a blind date - 9/20/75 to be exact. 3 years and 3 days later (9/23/7, we got married!! BTW, the couple who set us up (my girlfriend from high school who wound up being my matron of honor and his co-worker) broke up after that night!!

Oh Gosh, i met my Dh when he came home from boot camp to visit his friends. I was dating one of his friends for a few weeks (maybe 3) I was 16 he was 20, It was his last night home and we really hit it off great. He even walked me home in the pouring rain. He left the next day and we started writing to eachother, finally started dating and here we are 10 years married, 2 little girls, and almost 14 years together. I married him when i was 19, so I am 29 and married for ten years, lol When we met it wasnt so romantic but you should read our letters, LOL

He asked me to dance at a disco, I turned him down because I was waiting for my BF at the time to show up. We did talk a little that night, when my current BF and I broke up, he got my number from a friend and called me. We have been together for 26, married for 23.
