  • Anyone have a little one in a carseat??

Hello all!! As you all probably know by now, b/c I won't shut up about it , my son is turning one on the 24th!! Yippie!

That means my little buddy will be in a forward facing big boy booster seat!!

I was wondering, if you have a little one and you use one, which kind is it, and would you recommend it? I LOVE to have peoples feed back on stuff like this.

Okay, thanks for reading! Have a great day!

Not sure what kind I have but make sure you get one that goes through more than one stage of weight. When you go to look, you will find a ton. When my first turned one, we didn't have to purchase a new one, we just turned the one he was in around. Jacob was like 30 pounds at a year so we were in the one for 20 to 40 pounds. Then I think it went like 40 to 80 or something. I personally found my favorite at the one and up age to be the one that had the thing come down over his head b/c it gave him sort of like a table to play withthe toys we would strap on it. The other favorite I had was really wide and comfy woth cupholders on the side. I specifically alway look for something that will allow their little necks to be comfy when they drift off. You kow how their little heads will just roll anywhere in their sleep! Also, as a , I totally recommend finding a law enforcement agaency that has someone trained in putting your new seat in for the first time. I even took ours to the officer who does that. You would not believe what simple mistakes you can make!

since my state has a 9res old/90 pounds and about to get 12 yrs tacked I'd check your state laws and look for a convertable one. cup holders are a must as they can't reach the cup hoilders in the car

My daughter used a regular carseat until she was 3 and then we got her a booster seat with a back and a place for the seatbelt so it can go over the shoulder properly. In our state the law chnaged from 4 out of a booster to like 8 or 9 or 4'9". Something like that. I never planned on taking her out of hers for a while. The seat belts wouldnt fit right on her, and putting it behind her back would be useless. Anyways, Ive been looking at different ones since Ill need another soon, and they make tons of cool convertible ones. I believe Graco is the one we bought, but its in the box put in the rafters for now so I cant say for sure. But Im pretty sure Graco was the name we stuck with over the years.

Re: Anyone have a little one in a carseat??

Now this is something I know a little bit about since I just bought my kids new car seats. I have a 4y and my other son just turned one on February. 25th. I swear by the Britax car seats. http://www.britaxusa.net/default.aspx

          or http://britax.com/

They are a bit pricey but they are TOTALLY AWSOME and well worth the money. Every review I have read about them are good. The company Britax actually makes Airline seats, they are alot harder plastic and let me tell you, my kids do not whine at all while in these seats. They go beyond the safety features needed that your average car seat maker goes by. We drive around alot being military and my 4y used to cry about his legs falling asleep or hurting in the car, or his back.. not a peep since this new seat. My 1y falls asleep almost every car trip now, not in his old seat.

I bought 3 different ones. The roundabout, its a smaller one.. I dont really recommend it if your kids are big like mine. (my 1y is 96% weight 90% height for his age group.. hes a big boy) The material on that carseat is lovely though, its super soft like an animal . My other son currently sits in the Marathon, its perfect for him and I highly recommend this one for most people. He absolutely loves it, he calls it a cow because of the material. The sides are soft like my 1y's but the center material is good wipe able fabric. The third seat I have is a Regent, and let me tell you the thing is HUGE. I don't recommend this seat unless your kids are big like mine then its a bit of a waste. You don't want your kids to have too much growing room they told me when I called them. Now the roundabout is about 200 bucks and the marathon is around 250ish BUT, I got mine for 220 by buying one that is being a discontinued pattern. http://www.specialtybaby.com/br20macocars8.html

Both the Marathon and Roundabout are air craft useable. The regent is about 250 and basically is just a bigger seat. Husky and regent are the same they just have different patterns from what I was told by their sales rep.

Now we drive an SUV so we aren't really pressed for space in our vehicle. Read up on the car seat itself, don't worry about the bells and whistles. I mean cup holders/toy bars are nice, but you can always buy that as an additional item later on. I surely would rather have the side impact, HUGS, and such over a place to hold a cup . BTW these car seats don't move at all in my truck! They also recline, straps that don't tangle (mine haven't yet), anchor strap, and all that jazz. I highly recommend looking for that approved for Aircraft Use feature on any car seat you buy, trust me you don't want to be on a plane and find out your car seat doesn't meet the guidelines. The regent cannot be used on planes as it is too big to fit in the seats.

Target carries the roundabout in most stores, id go check it out just so you can get a general idea of what I'm talking about. Try to bend the plastic and all that. Look into height/weight limits. Shop online for deals! http://www.travelingtikes.com I just saw a few marathons there for 219 + free shipping as well.

If these are too pricey for you.. (I thought the same thing OMG too much money) the other car seat with great reviews is the Evenflo Triumph 5 at about 110 (target also carries this seat). Being in the Navy as an enlisted member, we sure don't make alot of money lol. My deciding factor was, I cannot put a price tag/money limit on my children's safety. I am 100% happy with the money spent. Britax truly is IMO the Cadillac of car seats.

Good place to read up on reviews is @ http://www.amazon.com

          Good luck in your research!

Re: Anyone have a little one in a carseat??

Thanks so ,uch, I will check those out...

Now that I'm looking more into things...it's getting complicated as far as which type of seat...for example, he was in an infant seat and hit the weight requirement, so my sister (he daughter JUST grew out of it, it's still a good one) let my have hers. It is a convertable car seat. So that's rear facing for now, and I know I can keep that one and just turn it around when he's one (he's 27 pounds ) I just want to get a new one for him. A temp one was great but it only goes up to 40 pounds, and he's gonna be there in no time.

So, am I technically looking for a booster seat, a convertable seat, or a front facing seat??

            Oh the confusion! LOL

Okay, n/m ignore that last post.

I want to get the forward facing/booster convertable chair....now just to find one that's got PERFECT safety crash ratings....The 22-859 Eddie Bauer is one of the best I've seen, but I am not thrilled w/ their "B" rating of securing the child...although some were c's! EEK!

I guess I have a TON of research ahead of me. I cannot afford the Britax, although I'd love to get it. I just need to find a cheaper one, that works just as good.

Thanks again for all the help, I truly apprecaite all you Mom's helping out a new Mom
