ADBB Clothing Exchange

I was mulling this over today when I pulled on ANOTHER pair of jeans that gave me a serious case of saggy butt:

what if there were an ADBB clothing exchange?

I have a whole bag of clothes that I haven't gotten around to donating to goodwill that I've grown out of (or shrunk into, you could say!), but I think it might be a good community building activity; especially for women who understand how EXPENSIVE buying a new pair of jeans every two months can become. I know for me the daunting task of buying a whole new wardrobe at smaller sizes is almost as scary as a Monday morning box of donuts at work

It would also be an excellent motivator--people could post their new size and items they'd be interested in and others could post things they have. Details could be worked out by moderators I guess (since it's an "exchange" I think everything would be done free of cost, but maybe someway to recoup shipping). I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud. Would anyone be interested in this?

I think it has been brought up in the past but kind of faded out for some reason..I gave a ton of bras away on this board...and .. I think Barb has a pair of my jeans that went to three different people!!!!

lets do it I still have some nice stuff left and would be happy to offer it up...

Yes, this has been brought up several times over the last few years.
What was decided was that if someone wanted to set up something off of ADBB and put a link in their info, and share the link, that would be fine.

A member had something set up on her own message board a while back but sadly it just didn't fly.

I think it's a great idea, so if you want to set something up, please do and I wish you all the best with it!
(I have a pair of jeans that I got from a lady in Florida and I sent a sweater to a lady in Alberta...it was fun sharing!)

Awesome!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks is a good idea. I'm going to look into what it takes to set up my own off ADBB little board, and hopefully with a big enough response we would be able to move it to its own forum here.

I've started going to thrift stores just to replace everything. At least I'm in a college town where girls dump off higher end brands. What an exciting idea!

We have this set up at the sisterboard LCBB... people are free to sign up and use it. Make sure you read the liability clauses however. It's something we just started. Of course, starting one here isn't a bad idea should someone make the effort.

Hey! I will have you know that my DH wore those jeans one morning! LOL. He was walking through the house going "Why are my jeans so SHORT?"
I said "commere and let me look". I looked in the back and sure enough there were everyone's signatures of having been in those jeans! ROFLMAO!! When I finally grow out of them and pass them on I will be sure to have him sign them as well!!

i had forgotten that! lol i remember him wearing them now! yes, he will have to sign them. when they get too woren for anyone to wear, maybe we could put a picture of them in the archives! lol

Sounds like a good idea. Most everyone has a paypal account, right? The person getting the new clothes could pay shipping for them...they are still getting a deal.

It does feel good to give up that old clothing. I just gave away my weightloss clothes (stuff I bought on the way down) and fat clothes to a friend's husband. Not only do you not have to be reminded about your old self and the notion of safety net for the "what if" -- the other person gets a good deal on the clothing. You also know the clothes are going to good use as opposed to perhaps falling into a black hole at Goodwill or similar shop.
