Yep I know, I appreciate that the wages are more than likely a lot less, but shall we do a price comparison thing? For once though MOG, you have to do the converting. How much would you pay for the following - (in English money)?

    A Can of Diet Coke

    A Brand new Audi TT

    A Cinema / Theater Ticket

    A months broadband internet connection

A 4 pack of top quality toilet rolls

    A gallon petrol (gas)

A pair of Levi mens jeans

    A titanium squash racquet

    A large beer

    A packet of salted peanuts

But remember MOG, you have to convert it into (£)

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Hey Lady Hawke, you can do the conversion, I'll do the US $$ for my area

        A Can of Diet Coke
From a machine anywhere from 35 Cents (at Walmart) to $1.00 Most places it would be .50 or .75 cents though. For example: On the 1st floor in this building they are 75 cents on the 2nd floor they are 50 cents!

        A Brand new Audi TT
I have no idea -- this is out of my ballpark! Maybe $35,000 thousand?

        A Cinema / Theater Ticket
I think at the regular theater about $8.50? But we have a second run theater where its only 5 bucks.

        A months broadband internet connection
I know this one...we pay $39.95 (on special for 6 months) then it goes up to 49.95

A 4 pack of top quality toilet rolls
Hmm, I buy the 12 pack of double rolls and its around $7 dollars on sale usually.

        A gallon petrol (gas)
It just jumped 30 cents a gallon so I paid $2.59.9 a gallon a couple of days ago

A pair of Levi mens jeans
        On sale $29.95

        A titanium squash racquet
        LOL---no idea

        A large beer
How big is large? In a bar a regular beer (12 ounce is around 3 -3.50 if its domestic, the imports can go as high as 6 bucks!) A twelve pack of 12 ounce Budweisers runs between 8 and 10 dollars depending on where you shop. A six pack of 16 ounce Buds costs 6.99

        A packet of salted peanuts
Single serving? 50 or 75 cents.

WOW, 45 bucks for Levi's? Ours are normally around 35 but they put them on sale all the time for $29.95...obviously we only shop sales!

NYC's gas is now less than ours! Ours was up to 2.64 this morning! They said it will continue to rise until it gets up to a little over 3 dollars a gallon! You can drive by the same gas station 3 or 4 times a day and the price will be higher every time you pass! Unbelievable!

Hey, your beer, broadband and T.P. are all cheaper than ours! And those are necessities! I live in the "country" too!

New York seems to be much the same price as England in a number of things. But then "weekend shopping breaks" to NYC from England are quite common, so I suppose thats got something to do with it. Your stores jumping on the band wagon and all that to get the most out of tourists.

Shame that your petrol is almost half our price though.

A pair of men's 501 levis on the sears website here is $74.99 Cdn 68.00 approx us. or 39.30 gbp. those are red tab levis though..we can get the lower Orange tab for at least half the price i think.

I haven't been to a movie in a while, but I'm pretty sure it's about $12.50 to get in: 10.75 usd or 6.15 gbp

24 bottles of beer at the beer store is around 36.00: 30.90 usd or 17.70 gbp
i think it may have gone up recently though

Internet...wow MOG you pay alot! I pay 45.00 cdn for mine. about 38. usd!

Can of coke: usually in a machine their $1 cdn or .85 us or .50 gbp

Gas: this takes a couple of conversions for me. Rich, we pay by the litre (as i'm sure you do) it's arount .91 cdn per litre which is .45 gbp. Per gallon that is 3.41 cdn or about 2.95 us i think, that's for regular.

I do think our wages are higher than some of the states too which probably justifies alot of the difference.

Gas: this takes a couple of conversions for me. Rich, we pay by the litre (as i'm sure you do) it's arount .91 cdn per litre which is .45 gbp. Per gallon that is 3.41 cdn or about 2.95 us i think, that's for regular.
Yes, we pay buy the litre aswell (He ll me and you even spell it properly "litre")

I just multiplied our litre price by 4.54 (which I believe is the number of litres to a gallon).
