    Rant: Why does my truck break when i don't have money?

    my transmision pump is shot and it's going to run me almost $2000 to fix. My half of the rent is $400 my truck is $600 and my check on the first is $2000. Great. I don't think i'll be pooping out $1000 anytime soon. I usually have a savings but with moving and everything it dwindled a bit. I guess i'll have to pay a little with my credit card. I keep paying them down and then something dumb happens. What annoys me even more is that my check at the end of April is going to be about twice what i normally make due to some compensation i'm receiving. DBF said he'd help but he's not rolling in dough either.It'll work out, but i'm still annoyed.

    I agree; vehicle repairs suck. Sometimes I think I'd rather own a horse that I could just shoot when it gets sick.

      I work at a garage, I know personally that all repairs come at horrible times for everyone, we allow our customers to make a few payments on really expensive work, like in your case.
      Hope everything works out for you, sure it will.

        That's sad that you're still making payments on the truck and its already costing you that kind of money to keep it running. What kind of truck is it? I'll be sure and steer clear of anything they build!

        I'm guessing there is also no warranty on the truck?

        Big bummer! but like they say Murphy's Law! I hope it all works out!

        At least if you have to put some on your credit card you can pay it down with the big check at the end of April so there won't be too much interest built up by then!

          LOL - I'm laughing at your "pooping" out money line. I wish. We find that car repairs and vet bills usually occur at the same time - and that's usually a month when we are already overextended. Murphy's law? Life? Whatever you call it, it's annoying sometimes. I hope it all works out okay for you.

            I am still paying on it, worse yet, it's partly my own dang fault. It's an '03 ford f-150 and i love it most of the time. I had some grumblings with the tran. and it was fixed. i noticed it was low on fluid a few times and filled it and then i had some more probs and it was fixed. Now I've passed the warranty period and it turns out the front pump is adamaged and since i let the fluid level go down this time, there is extensive damage to the torque convertor and other tihngs I don't know what they are. Fortunately dbf's uncle is the shop owner and he's charging me at cost and I trust him.

                That's too bad..like LIR said vet bills and car repairs always come at the worst time!


                We've owned a '76 F150, an '80, a '95 and we now have a 2003 . We've yet to have a problem with any of them, well nothing big, just brakes etc general maintenace. It's too bad you are having so many problems with yours .

                Though I do believe some vehicles are just 'lemons' I know ppl who've just kept pouring money into their vehicles to the point where it wouldn't be worth selling them because they wouldn't get back what they've put in...

                  Stinks doesn't it? Its good that the Unlce has a shop! Hope it all works out!

                  I just dropped my car at snap drive this morning. It went thru inspection for tags and it needs a new front windshield and a new gas tank. Plus two other things, its going to cost us around 11000 krones (or 1700 american).

                  If we could "poop" out money, we'd all be rich! LMAO!
