  • I celebrated this week - rewarded myself with a grill

My old grill simply would not make another grilling season. I looked last fall, but by the time I was ready to purchase, all the grills were generally put away. Fast forward to last week, the old grill burner assembly disintegrated again. It couldn't even finish the burgers that were on it as it just leaked propane rather than ignite it.

I couldn't deal with a summer with no grilling, so off I went looking for a good grill. I thought a grill was a grill was a grill. Boy was I sadly mistaken. I soon fell headfirst in the world of gas grills and how to judge a good one, which requires magnets. Based upon this review, I decided to purchase the Perfect Flame 60,000 BTU model, which after using a Home Depot 20% off coupon @ Lowe's was a really good price. So far, I have used it twice, and it is no comparison to old grill. The steaks and chops came out perfect, and the burgers weren't a mixture of over and under done in relation to the few hot spots.

Congratulations on your new grill ! Whens the ADBB BBQ!

I must be tired (ok its after 3 in the morning by me and I should be sleeping ) but I thought your thread said you rewarded yourself with a "girl" ( a woman, a chicko!) and I was like WTF???? Then I re read it and started laughing.

      Looks good Kent.

We would call that a barbecue in England. We call "grill", what you call "broil".

You just have to love those differences.

Thanks guys! I would hate to see the response from true BBQ'ers if I called that barbecueing. They get a bit touchy about that sort of thing. I simply don't have the patience necessary for low and slow cooking. No matter what you call it (except girl Tamariah -- although Sombersusie is looking younger and younger by the week) I am super pleased with my investment at the moment.

Wow Kent! That's a beauty! We call it a barbecue up here too. But we don't have many Southerners here in the North, so no one gets offended. When we say "mmm, I'm craving some bbq" we mean meat that has grill marks on it. lol

Re: I celebrated this week - rewarded myself with a grill

Yep, nothign like a nice grill. I bought a webber 4 years ago and until this year I had to replace nothing on it. I am heading out to Home Depot to pick up some replacement parts which will run me about $150 and I should get another 4 years out of it. Not too bad since I grill year round 4-5 times a week and just about everyday in the summer. Plus a grill is a low carbers best friend

Re: I celebrated this week - rewarded myself with a grill

this is a great marinade for anything on your new grill!!!! and I thought you said "girl" too btw...hey the side burner rocks on the BBQ it keeps yours sauces warm so you can just dip things into them while grilling

I toss the following into the blender
                    1 cup olive oil
                    1 cup lemon juice
                    1/4 cup fresh chopped garlic
1 tsp hot red chile flakes
                    1 tbl oregano
                    1 tsp coriander
                    1 tsp cumin
                    salt and pepper to taste

mix this up and soak chicken wings or ribs (or whatever I just love these the best) ...over night then grill (long and slow is best but since you do not have patience ...do whatever you want with them!) ... and ..well ...we had none left over last night that was for sure

congratulations a new gas grill is fun all year long!!!!
