  • Share your wedding experience please!

Well, I'm getting married in two months (and yes, I need to lose more weight for that lol) and I'm looking for cool great sweet nice simple ideas to make it a day of my life . So please, tell your lil wedding secrets. What was that special detail that made your day (well, except the man or woman by your side of course). Or tell me your wedding dream...

Ours will be really simple actually. We are not christian, so no church and such. It will be a barbecue party (MEAT!) in our house garden (begging for nice weather!), so we're thinking of planting a tree - "our" tree.

Of course, I'd LOVE to see your wedding pictures, too

I got married in my apartment by a military chaplain.

We had about 5 guests and the only money we spent was 60 dollars for a very small wedding cake which one of the guest's children decided to stick his fingers in while the ceremony was in progress and he proceeded to ruin 1/2 of the bottom layer of the cake!

Re: Share your wedding experience please!

You guys...lol Okay, my favourite memory of my wedding day (16 years ago) was of the time I spent with my husband-to-be. We had been living together so didn't do the "don't look at the bride before the wedding" thing. Besides, he's Jewish and they always take the pictures before the ceremony instead of afterwards. The best thing was getting ready for the wedding. We got our stuff together and ran some errands, picking up bottled water and muffins and such so our attendants wouldn't faint during the ceremony. Then we went to the hall and helped with setting everything up (me still with curlers in my hair). We had so much fun and it was the beginning of the adventure that is our life together.

Another thing I really liked was that we wanted to give the guests a little gift to take home. Our centrepieces were big plant pots with 10 individual plants in each. They were individual crocus, daffodils, tulips, etc. so it looked kind of like a little garden. During the wedding these were lined up along the aisle that we walked down. Later the caterers put them on the tables and then we invited each guest to take home their own little plant. It looked beautiful and because we got married at the beginning of April, our flower "theme" (such as it was) was just mixed spring flowers. Our wedding cake looked like 3 flower baskets too (the icing was piped to look like a woven basket) with flowers on top.

Whatever you do I hope you have lots of fun and really enjoy the day. Congratulations.

Re: Share your wedding experience please!

I had a big fat italian wedding. 260 guests, lots of food and booze, live music for dinner, and a DJ for dancing after dinner. I guess what made our party unique (this is very un-atkins-y) is our centerpieces were 12 inch Bavarian White Chocolate cakes with Fresh Strawberries on top. They were mom's idea, and they were a hit. I couldn't do lot's of flowers because of my mom and mother-in-law's allergies.

Re: Share your wedding experience please!

The one thing I did was make sure everything was done 2 days before the wedding (I did have maybe two or things the day before to do) and the day before I went for manicure, pedicure and massage. I was so relaxed and not rushed so I could really enjoy the day without being a bridezilla.

My husband and I will have our first wedding anniversary on April 30 of this year. We went to the Smokey Mountains with just our parents and siblings (three of them) and had a lovely ceremony in a place called Chapel in the Glen. The most memorable part of the day was when we went to go get massages to relax before the ceremony. It was nice and we just laid on the tables beside each other and drifted on clouds.

Cory and I were married on May 31, 2003. We met in 2000 in an online RP game...he was in Canada and I in the US. After many tearful goodbyes at the airport, and lots of paperwork, he arrived in the US in 2003 via a fiance visa.

We were married in a Victorian style chapel in Virginia...had about 12 guests. Family on both sides were either in Thailand, Canada or up in New England...so not everyone could make it. It's kind of funny because Cory's sister had a huge wedding with some 300-400 guests LOL!

                        Here's a pic...(I was only *145* pounds!)

While can't provide much - here's valuable advice if you have guests who might get too carried away with pranks to your car/luggage!! Especially if you are allergic to anything!! Make sure they know not to do (what got done to us):
Feathers in the car's air vents (starts flying through car when blower turns on!); Birdseed thoughout the luggage (what a mess for just before bed!); Lubricating jelly & packets in with the makup & toiletries (sticky & slippery hairbrush, lipstick, etc); and melted wax pictures/writing on the car (messes up paint and almost impossible to get off!!)

                          Congratulations to you two!
