                        Actually, it's Jose Roberto. I usually drop the "Jose" and just use "Roberto" in professional settings. It's too cumbersome.

                        Lol. I remember this confusing a lot of Brits when I was working for a British company here.

                        Most parents give their children nicknames that are derivatives of their first names, such as...

                        Roberto - Robbie or Bobby or Bob
                        Christina - Khris or Tina
                        John Paul - J.P. or Jaypee

                        In a few instances, one's family given nickname may not have anything to do with one's name. For example, if you're the only boy or girl in the familly, you might be named "Boy" or "Junior" or "Jun" if you're the only boy, or "Girlie" or "Baby" if you're the only girl. I have a cousin with the nickname "Baby" and she has two grandchildren. "Grandma Baby", LOL.

                        The other thing about names here in the Philippines is with regards to the middle name. A person's middle name is always taken from his/her mother's maiden name. So, if a certain John Smith married a certain Ann Taylor and they named their son William, their son will be named Wiliam Taylor Smith. Until a few years ago, I thought this was universal. Apparently not.
