As of May 1 I get to start paying into my employer's 401k! I'm really excited to get this set up. I plan to contribute 5% of my income (they match the first 6% donated or something, I think) but I'm not sure how to divide it. I have a whole bunch of literature based on the funds available, but it all reads like Greek to me (I'm an econ major, not finance!). Can anyone offer me any guidance/advice with the following options:
PNC Investment Contract Fund
Federated Total Return Bond Fund/Instl Serv
American Balanced Fund/A
Fundamental Investors Fund/A
MFS Total Return Fund/A
MFS Value Fund/A
American Century Ultra/Adv
American Century Value/Adv
Grwoth Fund of America/A
Fidelity Advisor Mid Cap/T
Fidelity Spartan US Equity Index
Royce Fund Low-Priced Stock
Baron Small Cap Fund
EuroPacific Grwoth Fund/A
New Perspective Fund/A
Cohen & Steers Realty Shares
Otherwise I'm just going to pick out of a hat! While more fun, it may not be the most profitable.

do they have an investment person at your work? ...once a month there is this mythical lady where we work who sends and email inviting us to come ask questions about retirement planning and I have yet to see her
