  • My welcome to unemployment vacation

Hi! I'm in Port Richey, Florida right now! We got in Friday afternoon, visited with family for alittle bit, picked up bf's sister at 1 am form the airport, worked at the wonderful golf tournament for Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy, went to more realtive's houses and I've been having a really really really great time. The weather's been mild, a little cooler than normal and breezy, which if fine with me. I've been eating pretty well in my opinion, but I've been drinking too so it's a wash. Couple light beers here and there, a few shots intertwined. I'm not a big drinker so I'm trying to keep it moderate. I've been doing all kinds of walking. We walked the entire 18 holes at least once yesterday. Some of you locals may know Seven Springs Golf Course, that's where we were. Just wanted to pop in and say hey. I'll be home on Tuesday night some time, maybe I'll post again before then, but there's so many things to do, who knows ?
I've been out of the army a week today, so that's why I titled the post that way. I like it here alot, I would even consider moving. New York sure is expensive.

I had a great time! I got a killer sunburn on my back on Monday. We went to a nearby beach (Green Key). I put on sun protection where I could reach with the intention of asking someone to get the unreachable areas--- and forgot! So I got a nice burn in the center of my back. i was in tears while bf was putting aloe on me. We really had a great time. I walked a few golf courses, helped out with a fundraiser for Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy, visited my aunt and uncle, ate great seafood. I did cheat a little and gained 3 pounds, but that just goes to show how much I've benefited from this wol, so back to basics for a few days and then back to owl. Port Richey is about 100 miles north of Venice, on the north side of Tampa.

I really love it there. I always think about the future, i.e., buying a house, having children, etc. i don't know how it can happen here in Long Island. It's so expensive. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, but the thought does cross my mind.

It's funny you talk about how inexpensive it is here. Real estate has increased more than 50% in the last 3 years. I realize it's cheaper than NY and most places on the east or west coast though.

You'd think all the hurricanes would scare people away and force the price of homes down, but it hasn't deterred people at all.

Anyway, glad you had a good time, and sorry about the sunburn. Owie. Glad you didn't get eaten by sharks

It's funny, because the Venice/Sarasota area doesn't have much good seafood at all. I hear the Tampa area is great. We can't even get fresh seafood at the grocery stores, unless you go to Whole Foods, and then you pay 4x's more than you would anywhere else. Drives me nuts. I guess we'll have to go up to Tampa next time we want seafood.
