Hi, I want to make a cupcake cake for my daughter's birthday, this is the first time I am going to decorate a cupcake cake. I bought a frosting creamy home stye (duncan hines) Is it possible to decorate it with this frosting, do i have to put it on all the cupcakes together, or one by one and then smooth the frosting? I am just planning to put the frosting and sprinkles.

Something like this but in pink, I already bought the letters, and the "thing" to make the border.

    Can someone help me?

    Re: cupcake cake

For kids, you better put frosting on all the cupcakes. Otherwise, it would look nice, imo, if you had some frosted and some sprinkled with powdered sugar or cocoa. But kids would like frosting. Spread a thin layer of frosting on the cupcakes, then sprinkle on the sprinkles. Or if you want to save yourself some labor, you can make the decorating a "hands on" experience for the kids by letting them decorate their own cupcake--supply 2 or 3 types of frosting flavors and maybe 3 or 4 toppings (sprinkles, chocolate chips, dried fruit pieces, nuts, etc.). If you want to be really sneaky, you can have a cupcake decorating contest with the winner getting some special prize.

I remember doing this when I was a kid at a party, and I still think this was the most fun party I'd ever been to as a little girl.

The mom throwing the party supplied us with our own little paper bowls, and had set out food coloring, and a big bowl of white frosting, and we got to mix our own colors. She also had tubes of colored frosting with different fancy tips for decorating. There were sprinkles, colored sugar, and confetti type things that we used to decorate.

That would be better and funnier than just bring the cake ready!!

I think I am going to make just a little one to blow the candle like a flower design with 10 cupcakes, and bring everything for the kids to make their own cupcake!
