NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A woman and her adult son have been convicted of trying to extort money from the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain by claiming they found a dead mouse in a bowl of soup while celebrating Mother’s Day in 2004.

Jurors deliberated nearly four hours Friday before convicting Carla Patterson, 38, and Ricky Patterson, 22, of conspiracy to commit extortion.

You know, I truly did find something disgusting in my Riblets Basket at Applebees a few years back. A friggin cockroach floating in the BBQ sauce! Can you say GAG! Why didn't I think of suing? Drats, I could've been rich instead of just getting a free meal out of the deal!

Hubby found glass in his cole slaw at a seafood place called Barnacle Bills down here, and he actually crunched it in his mouth before he realized what happened. We were offered a free dessert! We walked. I was half hoping someone would chase us down and try to make us pay. I'm not usually one for causing a scene, but I bet I could have cleared the restaurant for them. I was furious that he offered us free dessert, as if we were going to eat anything else at that point.

LOL We were at a Chinese food place a few years ago (well, about 20 or so) and we requested a second pitcher of water about halfway through our meal. There were about 6 or 8 of us there. anyway, the water came and there was a cockroach doing laps in there. We freaked out and called the manager over, and know what he did???? He took the pitcher off the table, flicked the bug out of the water and put the pitcher back on the table!!!! No freebies, no fresh water, nothin!!! Needless to say, we never went back there and my mom stopped ordering delivery from there too. I'm still not crazy about Chinese food either.

Miss Phode, Applebees first offer was to bring me another basket of Riblets! ROTFLMAO, I asked them how stupid did they think I was....like all of the riblets are sitting in one big pot in the kitchen! I told them thank you very much but I had lost my appetite. My sister warned them that I have an extremely strong gag reflex and that they better get that basket out of my sight pronto or the whole restaurant would probably get up and leave when I puked all over the place! LOL, we decided to sit there and get drunk on the house instead!

I'm always the one who gets the prize though! My sister and I have a running joke about it! I got a hair in my hamburger at one place we went.

Oh and talking about glass in your food, That happened to me at the Hilton in their lobby bar, I ordered a frozen drink, well the bartender had broken a glass right next to the ice bin and didn't bother to empty the bin..not only was their glass in my drink, but it had been ground up in the friggin blender! A-hole offerend me another drink!

How come when you're in a Chinese Restaurant, they speak perfect english until you have a complaint. All of the sudden, they can't understand a word you're saying...

Don't knock it till you've tried it Miss Phode. e.g. You want what form? We have those forms? Where do we keep those forms? I've never had to do one before. Did you ask the other department? Forms??? I don't think I'm supposed to do those. LOL
