Maybe you guys could help. I heard on the radio this morning that a group of children from Ft. Lauderdale Florida thought that they'd miss out on their school trip to Washington, D.C. because they refused to sell candy to raise money for the trip, because it went against what they were taught about healthy eating. So it turns out the kids are going to get their trip after all because of people's donations. The late Dr. Atkins widow donated $16,000 to the children so they could go. How cool is that?

Very cool! I hadn't heard that story but I'll keep my eye out for it!
You know, I am constantly telling the people here who try to sell junk for their kids for their schools and their boy scout troops and such, that if they would just sell something healthy that I would be happy to buy something to help. I refuse to buy girl scout cookies or candy bars etc. Good for those kids on taking a stand!

I couldn't find it, but I guess I was googling all the wrong words. I heard the story when I was listening to NPR on my way to work yesterday.
