    recycling/rubbish question ?

I have a lot of shoes/boots and a few were really, really, really old and ugly. I know that NIKE recycle old athletic shoes to make athletic surfaces including tracks, tennis courts and playground surfaces - but not old, full-leather shoes like my 15!!! years old, very very uncomfortable, pull-on boots :

For sure, not a donation items . So I had thrown them directly into the trash compactor. They look better now :

I am a recycling nut and I hate throwing things away, but I think these old leather boots were non-recyclable waste. It sounds harsh, but for me, these 15 years old boots were disgusting rubbish and I mean DISGUSTING......fungas and bacteria. EWWW!!!
I am right or not, I am not sure ??? Recyclable material or nasty waste ?

Sorry to say, but I think they were definitely trash. I hope I am not alone in thinking that.....

Sorry, I don´t want to know whether they are trendy or not....I want to know whether old shoes like these 15 years old boots are recyclable items or just worthless/nasty trash ?
My neighbour says "recycling bag" but I think "trash bag" is the right choice. I think my 15 years old boots were unhygienic/disgusting (bacteria), worthless (just old leather-they were full-leather boots, no zippers) trash but I am not sure...
So please advice ladies !!! I am a reycling nut.
