  • Rain Dance

I just have to say, it rained here this morning for the first time in 80 days. I'm so happy. There have been brush fires everywhere, and they seem to be coming closer to where I live. We needed the rain so bad!

I'm so happy for you!! I don't know if you live in any of the areas that were devastated by hurricanes a year or two ago, but this time the rain was obviously a welcome relief!!

Hey Coop, where I live, we haven't been hit by a hurricane. Actually, where I live, on the Gulf side, south of Tampa, is where the natives used to migrate to in the summer to avoid the hurricanes. I'm hoping they stay away.

                  Re: Rain Dance

We had a monsoon down here back at the end of december. Other than that no rain (one drizzle that happend for 1/2hr while I was sleeping! Aaack!), but hopefully there should be some in two months, even the cacti are starting to complain. The animals are already coming down into the towns.

Mind sending those clouds down here?

Hey Miss Phode, the big fire on 75 yesterday was only about 1/2 mile from my house. Thought the deluge of rain we got this morning would help things, but about 6 PM tonight it started again. The fire trucks are back out there again. Although, I don't think they have 75 shut down again....that was a misery...took me 2 hours to get home from work yesterday when it normally takes me about 25 minutes.

I'm sooooo glad it rained, although we still need to keep doing the rain dance so that we get some more!!!

On Monday, I heard this fire had 1000 people evacuated.

I95 was closed over here on the East coast as well due to fires. Had to check with AAA before DD headed back to Orlando yesterday morning. It was re-opened by the time she left in the afternoon. All this drought, and soon we will be complaining of the rainy season. Sheesh.

Actually, the summer rain is my favorite thing about Florida summers. Nothing else about them is good in my opinion. Well, except for the fact that the tourists have gone and we get our shops and restaurants back.

I don't quite know about exactly who was evacuated, but I heard from my sister that there was a subdivision evacuated. I was about 1/2 mile west of the fire and the wind was blowing to the east which was a good thing for me.
