What hobbies/pastimes do we have around here?

I knit when I'm traveling or if holidays are approaching. I would do it more, but I feel like i'm not productive when I'm sitting still for too long.

My new apartment has a fish tank built into the wall, so the bf and I are looking into getting that set up. I had fish when I was a kid and it was a nice hobby.

Then there's cooking. I'm not great, but i really enjoy it. I like collecting cookbooks almost as much as actually cooking. Books are wonderful.

And my nerdiest hobby is math. I love math. I do other people's math problems for them, I study it for the sake of learning.

    So how about you?

            Re: Hobbies

Running is my hobby. It totally satisfies the relentless competitor in me. I love to set goals that seem impossible and then turn myself loose to meet or exceed them! I started running just 2 and a half years ago and now, I couldn't imagine not running...I have found what I love to do ... what's better than that?

Running has totally transformed my body; I am going to be 51 years old in a few months and yet I have *no* aches or pains .. 5 years ago, I couldn't say that. I weighed 40 pounds more, I didn't exercise, and I stuffed myself with refined carbs. Thanks to Atkins, I was able to lose the weight, but the major factor in keeping it off has been my running.

My goal is to still be running strong 30 years from now. My inspiration to do that is a good friend who I met at some of the competitive races I've been in. He is 81 years of age and runs several marathons a year. The man doesn't look a day over 60. He didn't even begin running until he turned 68 years old. He totally rocks my socks!

              Re: Hobbies

I knit and crochet---provides me with things to wear and to give as presents.

I garden---provides me with things to eat and to give away.

I'm a local history buff---keeps me out of trouble (usually).

This is not a "hobby" type hobby, but I like going to various cultural fairs and festivals. I get exercise and I learn about things.

Photography, cross stitch, reading and family. I find it hard to fall asleep without a good mystery novel.

I have tried to knit but I just can't seem to get pasted getting the yarn on the needle.
