San Fransisco, CA (AHN) - Three people are facing jail time after they put up a rope across a street to knock motorcycle riders off their vehicle; in an apparent move to keep the noise level down in their neighborhood.
According to defense attorney Dennis Lempert, "Apparently the rope was supposed to slow people down."
Now, Edward Anderson, 48, his girlfriend, Donna Olsen, 46, and neighbor Donald Bryant, 62, face up to eight years in prison, charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon for the attack on their neighbor and another biker in his group.
According to neighbor, Robert Barnes, the rope caught him across the upper lip, hurling him 30 feet from his motorcycle and leaving him with 500 stitches, missing teeth and titanium plates in his head.
Barnes believes, "I don't think it was about me."
"I think it was about dirt bikes in general. It could have been anyone. It could have been [Edward Anderson's] kid. He rides dirt bikes."
