Hmm that brings up another point, not2late.

How many people have a tv in their bedrooms?

We've *never* had one in there. We have one tv in our living/family room that we watch together at night before bed. When the day is over it's turned off and we toddle off to bed. Our bedroom is a place to sleep. We don't read in bed either. If we're not ready for sleep, well we find other sources of entertainment (lol)

My mom and dad had one in theirs because well....Dad was the only male in the family, so he had to watch boxing and basketball somewhere. lol.

That tv was also our "home sick" tv. Whenever we were ill and had to stay home from school, Mom would wheel that tv into our rooms. Daytime tv in the 70s and 80s was soap operas, variety shows/magazines like the Mike Douglas show, sometimes an old movie and occasionally re-runs of 60s tv sitcoms. I guess, Mom thought being able to watch tv while we were ill wuld help us feel less miserable...

I have a small tv in my bedroom. I watch the late night news on it. I've timed my waking up with the weather report, so as soon as I wake up, I flip it on, watch the weather report, flip it off, and drag myself out of bed.

I have a larger tv in my family room and there's small one in the guest bedroom.

My kids watch tv.. an hour a day usually, but on Thursday and Friday Jimmy gets to watch more.

They don't watch a whole lot of comemrcials though.. they watch cartoons on Boomerang which is commercial free and it's cartoons from when I was growing up and some before I was born (Popeye, Dasterdly and Muttley, The Smurfs, Scooby Doo type stuff). Jimmy likes to watch the History channel, The Learning Channel, The Discovery Channel, and the National Geographic channel. He really enjoys a couple shows that I let him watch without a time restriction like Modern Marvels (about amazing structures and how they were built), Seconds to Disaster, and one he recently found about Wild West Technology.

Now on Thursdays he gets to watch C.S.I, and Without a Trace. On Friday he watches Numbers. Yep, he watches them with an adult and gets sent out of the room for innappropriate parts.

The kids know better than to ask for junkfood and such they see in commercials. They won't get it.

As for the kool-aid packets.. how long until someone here asks if they can have that instead of regular water?

I had a tv in my bedroom.. I gave it to the 'rents when dad started having trouble sleeping. The tv puts him to sleep.

We have the big screen tv in the family room, the tv in the kitchen, the tv in the living room, and the one thats now in my 'rents room. Seems like a lot of tvs, but usually the big screen is where Jimmy watches a lot of his shows, and we also watch sports and dvd's on it as a family. The one in the living room is used mostly for watching news or cooking shows. The kids use the one in the kitchen during breakfast and lunch to watch cartoons and my sister uses it for watching Home and Garden network and also the food network.

Hrm..I don't watch much tv now-a-days. I watch Lost and thats about it.

We have a tv in our room but i never watch it, my hubby does. We have 4 tv's, 2 in bedrooms, 1 in the living room and one in the garage (along with a beer fridge, phone and woodstove..all for hockey season ). I was against getting tv and satellite up at our cottage, but we compromised, hubby got his tv, i got my second phone line for the laptop.

My stepdaughter has a tv in her bedroom and i have no issue with this as we make sure she watches it in moderation. I worry more about the hours that she spends on the computer..... If you ask me nowadays we should be far more worried about the internet and all the creeps out there than i would about kids dumping Koolaid into their water...My stepdaughter may have a tv in her room, but she will NEVER get a computer in there (until she's old enough to buy one and get her own apt. LOL).

Really I don't think you can blame the advertisers, tv, food companies for kids bad eating habits...how bout the parents that are buying the crap??? There have always been pop and candy and sugary cereal commercials and my mom just never bought them for me. so those things never became an issue.

ME and my husband turned off the tv last year!!!! YEAH!
We rent movies thru netflicks.....this way we control what are daughter is watching and we are saving about 70 bucks a month!

I definetly recommend kicking the tv to the curb!

I don't have cable because if I did, I would be glued to the Food Network 24 hours a day....

I have cable and its ALWAYS on FITTV.
