  • Stress

The kids are home for the summer vactation and the noise volume of the house has gone WAY up. They don't stop screaming, running, fighting, jumping, kicking, hitting, and all other verbs ending in "ing".

As a result, my Tylenol bottle is almost empty from the constant headache I have all the time and I can't find a minute to unwind. This is having a negative effect on my wellbeing.

I love my kids, but being stuck to them 24/7 is grating on my nerves in a big way. My dh works all day and I have no family close by to come over and break the endless kid cycle or to chat with.

I can't wait for school to start again! That must sound horrible, but this isn't one of my better mommy moments. I'm off to break up yet another argument over dominoes this time..

I will pray for you and hopefully you will get some peace. I know nothing about parenting at all so if I give some advice that is lame please dont get too mad
How about organizing or planning fun things a few days a week. Like one day go to a huge park and have a picnic or maybe go to the lake or beach. Anything to let the kids deal with their surroundings and not be constantly bugging you!

Lock the bathroom door, light some candles and take a bath.

I don't have kids either, but it sounds like a good idea, right?

Sounds awesome! But she will need to also have some music and HEADPHONES to block out the banging on the door and crying and "MOMMY" calling! LOL. Oh man, I don't miss those days.
Hey, I was always a fan of OUTSIDE toys! When all else fails you just yell "GO OUTSIDE ALL OF YOU" lolol.

            Re: Stress

hahahaha. You guys crack me up! A bath?? What's that???? I haven't had one of those since before I was married ah so many years ago.....

Also, outside would be a good idea but it was a rainy day today. So these kids were climbing the walls. I ended up calling a friend and begging her to bring her kids to my house. That was a good 2 hours of fun even though the "inging" got much worse with more kids around. Having an adult in company though helped.

^.^ We talked about Atkins and I convinced her to join me!! lol, so the day that started out crappy actually ended on a good note. (And the kids are going to bed VERY soon) Does a happy dance.

That's great Meena! I'm glad you had a friend to help you through the chaos. And now an Atkins buddy! How cool is that?!
Sometimes it is easier to have more kids over, I understand that thinking completely. But Let's hope for sunshine tomorrow!!!!

And I just thought of something! If you said, "Hey, you guys wanna go outside and play in the rain?" They probably would have been all over that! LOLOL.

                  Re: Stress

There is only one solution. You must sell the children to the local university for medical experiments. OH ! I"M KIDDING!!!! This too shall pass. One day at a time and a few rented movies maybe...?

                      Re: Stress

lol, I tried in vain with the movies. We got Shrek. They weren't buying it. hahaha. My kids are almost 8, 6, and 3. (Their b-days are in Aug and Sept.)

Today it's supposed to be another rainy day, but have a plan of attack. I've decided to keep them outside until the rain actually comes. ^.^ Yesterday the news was all about severe thunderstorms that never actually came until the late afternoon. I should've let them go out to play earlier on. I would've been in a whole other place mentally if I'd done that.

If they go out now, they can roll in the mud and when they come in I can have all the exercise of cleaning them up. lol. Positive outlooks--I'm trying!!

                        Re: Stress

Is there a summer day camp in your area, the kids are doing something throughout the day, but home at night?
                        Or Weekend camp?
Activities at the local park and recreation dept?

My mom used to dump me at the rollerskating rink all day on a saturday with 5 bucks and come get me at 5pm. I know thats not in reality anymore. Also, the slip and slide (a huge piece of garbage bag plastic with the water hose kept us busy for awhile.) Does anyone remember Water Wiggles? Here's one for 1 day. Let em play with the water hose, wash your car and wax it. LOL my da did that once. Take a trip to the nursery, purchase flowers, have the kids plant them.
Make a plan that every day at a specific time you will exercize together. YUPPERS but you have to exercize in a manner the kids would enjoy. Rollerskate, bike ride, tumble, freeze tag, Marco Polo at the pool, etc...

                        Just trying to help.
Lord, my dream is to lose this weight and to be healthier.

Oh heavens no! You keep the kids in the house and you go out and roll around in the mud! Wouldn't that be fun... just to be crazy for a little while instead of having to be the sane mother? Well you can tell i don't have kids so you have to listen to Hey Nelson and the others. They actually know what they're talking about. Stay strong.

Oh my gosh Aggie....I'm LMAO because I don't have any kids. NOPE, not one. I work with teens (who need to be entertained 97% of their day) but for me having a child. no.

when my kids were little and even still as adults when the thunder storms come we used to sit in the house quietly and cout the seconds between the thunder and lightening ...one one thousand ..two one thousand ...three one thousand ...ect so we could see how far away it is ...I dont know if it is true but someone said to me one time each second is a mile away for the storm..I don't care really becuase for those few minutes we had a calm in the house and every little "calm" helps when you are raising kids ...personally however if it was not a thunder and lightening I tossed them out anyway ..you can not live where I do and not learn to live with rain that is for sure

good luck they grow up really really fast so try to enjoy yourself OOOXXX I do understand! and you my dear sound like an awesome mama
