  • Oh The Pain And The Glory!!!

    So yeah, am all excited at being back on induction, re-reading DANDR.
    Drinking my water, the sun is shining, all is well...

    So, back to the sun shining bit.
    Decided to go to the beach yesterday and get some sun, sand and...exercise.

    I walked for miles on the shingle. You know the mounds of tiny pebbles that accumulate? So, it's much better exercise and you can really feel the strain as you walk, it's like doing miles worth on a step exercise machine with the tensiuon turned way up. Walked for hours, loved it. Went to bed feeling all proud and healthy.

    THEN I WOKE UP THIS MORNING!

    Good Lord! The pain! LOL
    I feel as if I've broken my foot and had my leg whacked with a bat!!!

    Obviously my muscles must've thought "What the **** is he doing to us???" and have went into shock after being used for the first time in years!
    I can only thank God that I didn't lift some weights too! (which I was going to)

    So, am sore but I'm laughing at my stunned muscles.
    No pain no gain right?

    I don't know why, but everything you say today is making me laugh. But seriously, I hope your feet and legs feel better soon. You don't want them to rebel and not let you go for walks again. congratulations on re-committing to the Plan.

      Oh just concentrate on the glory part. Think of how glorious you were out there strolling about on the pebbles like a king in his kingdom... what is pain in comparison to this? Nothing! It is nothing! Pain is just a passing breeze on the beach of your enlightenment...

            All better now, been out every day power walking up and down the beach.
            Well, I'm a great walker once I get started, so I walk for miles and miles so that I'm a dot on the horizon and then I stop and think, "Heck, I have to walk all the way back to!!!"

            The last time I got a sun rash and broke out in loadsa red, itchy spots.
            Nearly achieve full vertical takeoff capability in the car on the way hoem, I was driving so fat to get home for some soothing cold cream

                  I'm afraid to read about Pres' resistance part too... he'll be a giant stalking thing striding along the boulders with a red itchy rash carrying penguins over his head... the images that come to mind... the horror! But... good for you. Congrats Prez.

                        Oooooooooooooooh weight training is it?
                        maybe this is the spur I needed.
                        I bought dumbells last time and they are sitting gathering dust.
                        Actually, they weigh A LOT and it's amazing to me to think that when I lift these really heavy dumbells, that last year, i actually lost MORE weight than they weigh!!!
                        Imagine carrying all thata round with ya!!!
                        Must look out my camera too and get snapping.
                        Oooooooooooooh am all excited now.

                          penguins? I was imagining carrying boulders doing that.

                          anything that causes your muscles to work more then the usualy air resistance is resistance exercise you can use the dumb bells or resistance bands. but in chapter 22 of DANDR DR Atkins gets after us about it.

                            Well I'm patiently building up my weight training. Very slow process and I'm lifting hardly alot but it seems to help alot by making me feel tighter if thats the word... So instead of penguins I'm lifting the equivalent of chickadees at the moment but those ostriches better watch out soon enough! Yes... boulders is more prez' style I think... Now don't forget to warm up Prez'... we await your reports and don't want to hear of you moaning about all over the beach eh?
