    Re: Snake!!!!!!!!!!!

    I don't like snakes.

The poisonous ones we have here are the copperhead and timber rattle snake.

I'm not sure if this is true in your area Barb, but here if the snake is in my house (like under the living room sofa or in my garage), I can call the Animal Control people and they'll remove and relocate it for me.

Yea JH that looks closer to her snake than the pygmy rattler, also know as the dusky pygmy rattler--here's a pic, the article says that the baby's color is the same as the adults except the tip of the tail is yellowish green...here

That was in your closet?!? Yikes. All snakes creep me out a bit. If they aren't behind thick glass I don't wanna be near them.

I also hate things that crawl fast. *Shivers*

There's no way that's a rattle snake. Rattle snakes have a particular shaped head.
Still, if that came out of my closet, I'd definately need a new pair of pants.

                      Re: Snake!!!!!!!!!!!

It reminds me of the rat snake I found in MY house one night!

We were having problems with mice for some time. We'd tried everything to find all the places they might be getting in and setting traps and poison in the attic, etc. One night, my DH was out of town and I decided to go downstairs to the laundry room to hang up some clothes right before I went to bed. I heard something and when I investigated in the bathroom, I found a HUGE snake slithering over the back of the toilet tank, knocking off my kids' bathtub toys!

I called the non-emergency number for the fire department and they kindly came out and took it outside for me. They were entertained because they were tired of fighting grass fires all summer and needed something new to do. Needless to say, I made SURE my DH found where it had gotten in PRONTO! There was a hole in the wall in flowerbed where a pipe used to be that was hidden by a trellis.

Actually, that snake did me a favor because I haven't had a mouse problem since finding that hole! Glad you're okay!

OMGosh... I can't believe I even read all the way through this. That's so scary! I'm wicked grossed out right now from looking at the pictures. Man... I'm glad you son was home. I called the animal control officer once when just an 11 inch gardener snake was in the closet of where I work! They are harmless. My co-workers NEVER let me live that one down!

But here are pics of all the snakes native to florida, I didn't see a poisonous one that looked like yours so I think you're safe!

I think you are right Mog. This would explain why my son thought the tail was "rattling"
Rat snakes tame easily, but will defend themselves aggressively when cornered. When threatened, they may also vibrate their tails rapidly.
