    Re: Pride in San Francisco

I believe this post makes a very clear example of why we don't allow these types of threads. Immaturity and the inability to remain calm when simply asked to keep it to things that aren't offensive, and to not insult the board, its members or the staff. When you can't make a point without taking pot shots at the people here, it's a topic that needs to end. This is an Atkins board, and chit chat should be pleasant, not rude and abusive. Unfortunately, while we are adults for the most part, we are obviously not 100% adult.

For instance the topic of 'abortion and the atkins diet' may not be allowed on this board. Not because the board is pro or anti abortion but because of the political/religious/emotional debate potential.

Ok. Then why the **** would you have a "miscellaneous chit chat" board and apply this particular rule to it? Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? What a huge contradiction. If someone is so sensitive that they really need to complain about a board with HUGE GLOSSY "PEACE, HAPPINESS, ACCEPTANCE AND UNDERSTANDING" overtones then by all means take it down. I thought we were all adults here but apparently I was wrong.

      Re: Pride in San Francisco

We have been here and done this with politics...... it just does not work. We in fact closed down our debate forum years ago due to the conflicts it created. Chit chat is a fourm for chit chat. Expressing political/religious views etc. is far to emotional and has never lead to anything but debate, anger and name calling.

I will also add....... we agree to disagree and respect each other, no matter what our politics etc.

And no we are not all adults here.... please note there is a teen forum etc.

            Re: Pride in San Francisco

I would never assume to know how someone actually personally felt on a subject just because they did not find it appropriate for this board. Once again, below the belt name calling = not welcome.

I said when I started this thread that I realise not everyone will see eye to eye on this. I more wanted to speak of what a happy joyful event it had been and how I felt for attending. Having said that I'd like everyone to try their VERY best to BEHAVE. If you have a differing opinion THAT IS FINE, but please, keep it out of this thread. I REALLY don't want to start a debate here.

Absolutely!!! ...we can talk about this parade however I believe there is no harm in reviewing it ....

ok Seattle had a huge showing for "Dykes on Bikes" OMG the money in those bikes!!! they had these Harley's that were insane..they also had pimped out scooters .....there was this massive goldwing tricycle I swear I have never seen anything like it ....

serious dykes on bikes ...kind of cool to watch it on tv out of the 100degree temp I was very proud our local station broadcast the entire thing

we do not need to be political here at all let's just talk about the festivities

Heidi...have you SEEN the mayor of San Francisco?

                      Meow.

EVERYONE in the audience went nuts when his car was going by. Most women (even the lesbians among us) were swooning. I'm sorry I missed his speech...he's so charismatic.
Anyway all the festivities AFTER the parade around Civic Center and City Hall were something the behold themselves. SOOOO MUCH GOOD FOOD! And I couldn't have most of it. I sweat if I saw a kettle corn stand I was going to weep. There was a main stage with a lot of various performances including an opera singer singing an aria from Madame Butterfly set to a dance beat...I actually kinda liked it. And there was something for everyone there...even an alcohol free zone. The general feeling is a celebration of diversity...not just gay/straight what-have-you, but that we are ALL different and that's OKAY. It's part if what makes humans so fascinating and wonderful.

Yes, and also if you ever want a brutally honest opinion about how you look, ask a drag queen.
When I was 16, one of my first jobs was working for my parents first restaurants, Downcity, on Weybossett St. in Providence. The thing with Downcity is it became a gay mecca of sorts and my mother was their "Diva". Anyway I would work Sunday brunch and you get to see all the drag queens who had been out galavanting the night before (or in Miss Kitties case working any one of the billions of charity events she is in involved in) as men, nursing hangovers. It's so much like being a woman I think...you ever get a makeover or really do up your make-up and just feel FAAAAAAAAABULOUS? Like you own the world and you're the hottest thing ever? I have...but then when the make up comes off and you shed the fab clothes, you're just you again. Still fabulous...just a lot more tame.
Anyway I'll quit babbling about my beloved drag queens. I need to get ready for work!

Am I strange? I agree with BOTH sides of this coin. My question is, why the "ready to pounce" stance?

I think the name of this thread should have been called: Drama QUEENS
