    Re: Charcoal or Gas

We have both a charcoal grill and a gas grill. Since we grill out about 5 nights a week we usually use the gas grill, its just so much faster! And with the temps in the high nineties, 100% humidity and a heat index in the 100's neither of us wants to hang out outside too long.

We also have a charcoal smoker which we love! In fact we smoked 5 lbs of salmon on that sucker yesterday! Yum

This is probably dating me, but 2late's post about old timey grills made me think of the kind we used to have. There was never a top for them and they were probably wider than the Weber of today. You would always have to stand by with your trusty squirt bottle to kill the flames that would surround your meat. We would also put sticks in the grill, so we could "smoke" the sticks. Boy, have times changed!

Also, another bar-b-que note. I tried grilling cauliflower for the first time this weekend - I did not like it! I like it much better roasted in the over.

How about my dad's cinderblock grill he made to grill yaki-tori on.
