Fiery Hot Ice Cream Lives Up To 'Cold Sweat' Name

    POSTED: 11:26 am EDT July 5, 2006

ANGIER, N.C. -- Cold Sweat ice cream is hot. In fact, it's so hot customers at Sunni Sky's ice cream shop in Angier, N.C., have to sign a waiver stating that they’ve been warned.

Sunni Sky's makes its Cold Sweat-flavor treats with milk, sugar, three kinds of pepper and two kinds of hot sauce. It's so spicy that just touching it makes your fingers feel hot, according to the News and Observer.

The waiver for the fiery mixture has dozens of signatures. Pregnant women and people with health problems are not supposed to eat it. Anyone younger than 18 needs the consent of a guardian.

The shop's owner, Scott Wilson, started out experimenting with jalapenos in vanilla ice cream to appeal to Hispanic customers. That didn't catch on, but Wilson kept going and worked his way up to Cold Sweat.

The final version of the fiery treat contains a blend of Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce and Blair's Megadeath Hot Sauce, a secret ingredient, chili peppers, habaneros and Thai chilis.

Among the first to try Cold Sweat was Justin Smith, a woodworker. The 22-year-old went to the restroom and vomited after a spoonful. But, he's had about five samples since, and wants to go for the record of 14 ounces in a sitting.

Wow! That sounds like a fun thing to do. After spending a day outside beating yourself over the head with a blunt instrument. Sheesh!!

You like hot things Mog. Would you try it?

I watched a guy sitting in a bar one day. The bartender was showing us this bottle of Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce and telling us how this stuff was so hot you could literally put a drop of it from the end of a toothpick into a gallon of water and the water would be so hot you couldn't drink it! It even comes with a warning and a toothpick and says to never ever use more than one drop.

OK, so this half drunk guy is sitting there listening to our conversation and says "I can handle it, let me see that bottle and a piece of beef Jerky." Well the bartender says "Bob, I'm not kidding, you really cannot try to eat more than a tiny drop of it, it has this warning right on the bottle" Well the dummy insisted that she hand him the bottle and the jerky, he proceeded to coat the piece of jerky liberally with the sauce! Popped it into his mouth and immediatley began choking...choking and choking and turning all shades of red and blue, I thought he was gonna die right there at the bar! Idiot

Funniest thing is that when he finally was able to speak again he cussed the bartender! I couldn't believe it, he said "you did that to me on purpose, you could've killed me!"

      Unbelieveable!

Anyway, I have no desire to try anything made with that suff alone let alone that and all those other peppers like the Habenero

I LOVE hot foods. I've never really had anything so hot I cried or got sick or anything. I would love to try just one spoonful. Yummmm.

Oh man, now I want something really spicy for dinner.

Mere, get yourself a bottle of that hot sauce, I think it will be hotter than anything you'd ever want to eat!

I'm a big hot and spicey fan as well, but when it gets so hot that you can't taste anything but the heat then its too hot IMO.

I've had the jalapeno ice cream but nothing like that

they have hot sauce comtests for stuff like that one. I've seen a bottle of a winner and it says use for heat only not for flavor warning on it. I will stick with a habenero for all the heat I need.

Like the people of Spanish extraction, people of Italian ancestry (that would include me - my background is 100% Italian) generally like spicy stuff, like crushed red pepper on their food, etc. But I can't stand it!!

I've had Wasabi ice cream before at a Japanese Restaurant, but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to try that one.

LOL, this was a bar at the coast, but not a tourist bar, it was a locals bar, and all the locals are related to each other if you know what I mean. Interesting place! LOL

Wasabi Ice Cream actually sounds good!
