Just wanted to know if any of you have things that you do that you really do not like to share with the person next to you. For example, I love my meat. If meat gets stuck in my teeth, in private, I will take off an earring and try to remove the offending item. Another thing I do, is I will look under the bathroom stall if someone is in there. I always notice their feet, probably the start of this thead. This woman had the most god-awful feet, but she had on sandles AND had most of her polish off AND she had a toe ring on her middle toe. I mean, my god. why bring attention to your feet if YOU HAVE UGLY FEET! On along another line, I have upon occasion lost the back to an earring. If that occurs I will usually try to find a pencil eraser. I was at a concert a couple of weeks ago and that occured. I had no pencil eraser but I did cut part of the cork from the wine bottle and that worked. What kind of behavor do you possibly exude that may be human but a little off the wall? Inquiring minds WANT to KNOW!

Re: Human quirks/human nature
Somewhere around 8 - 12 years old I got sand in my hair and even after washing it several times I could still run my fingers close to my scalp and find some sand. Eventually, this became a habit and even to this day (I'm 43) I catch myself running my fingers through my hair searching for sand -- and when I notice it, I stop. Goofy, ay?
My Mom used to say that people will think I have fleas or lice they way I dig around in my head...so I try to catch myself and not do it in public.

Re: Human quirks/human nature
I'm not sure, but I'm pretty certain that others will notice things about me that they think are strange.
I do agree about the ugly feet thing, though.
And, I still don't care for thongs sticking out of low cut jeans - perhaps it's because I'm female, but I don't find it attractive. AND, the female spare tire between the cropped top and the low cut jeans . . . absolutely hateful. I know people want to be fashionable . . . BUT . . . have they no mirror or friend who could give them constructive criticism?Started Atkins: 21 Sep 2003

Re: Human quirks/human nature
I play with silly putty. All the time. See, I used to have a habit of twisting my hair, but I wasn't really twisting it... I would push my fingers into it because I liked the feel of the pressure under my fingernails. So I found that pushing my fingers into silly putty gives me the same comforting feeling without damaging my hair... until the day forgot I had silly putty in hand and tried to twist my hair too. UGH
Anyway, I have every kind you can name. I have color-changing and glow-in-the-dark. I have metallic colors like silver and gold. I have glitter putty and shimmering "space putty". My students have learned not to touch the putty and my kids know that silly putty is not for kids. It's mom's.

Exercise:
Slow Burn by Fred Hahn
raquetball
hockey
inline skating
walking with my kids
