How old were you when...........

A continuation of the theme of all of my polls this - How old were you when you left home (moved out of your parents or guardians house).

I think I may have been the oldest to be honest as I always refused to pay rent to anyone (apart from my parents) and waited until I could afford to buy my own place (with the help of a mortgage obviously)

I was 29. I couldnt afford to buy before then.

18 here. I had to move for my second year of college. My hubby- then fiance, was at a well established job, so we got an apt closer to the hospital I needed to train at, and his work.

Then graduated from college and bought our own home.

When I was 19, had been wanting to since 15.

It's not a matter of affording. I'm 30 now and no home ownership.

It's a matter of wether you can you can live with your parents!

Remember that show from Seinfeld. Remember George's parents? Well not far off!

I was 17, off to the Army, by my choise. Was in my first semester of college and painfully bored.

I was 24. My mom wasn't in the best of health and I stayed to help out and save money. I went right from living with her to being married. Sometimes it seemed like I really missed out on something, never having lived on my own then. Course now that I've been divorced for 4 years I've had plenty of alone time!

Well I paid rent at home $180 a month to share a room with my sister and then of course my mother wouldn't let me eat the food she bought, I had to pay for my own. That went on for years. I wanted to move out at 17, but each time I found a roommate they backed out and I couldn't afford it on my own -
I finally moved out at 24 and never went back.

I was 18, knew it all and wanted to prove it to everyone! Ignorance is bliss!

19 which is when I got maried.. and turned 20 two months after

graduated at 18
married and moved out at 18
had a baby 2 days before i was 19 (that's another poll,rich. how old/young were you when you had your first baby?)

I left home about a week before my 17th birthday. I stayed at a friend's place for about 7 months before I got a place with my BF at the time (now DH) because the friend's dad was a raging alcoholic and I would have gone crazy staying there longer!

went off to college at 16 and only went back for Christmas every yr.

I left home to finish school in London when I was 24, when I came back to the US moved in with roommates from London about 5 miles from parents home. Then moved back home to be a caretaker for my parents, then inherited the property. My family has lived on this property since 1964
