Anyone else having trouble sleeping these days..either I dont sleep at all or I shift sleep (two hours here then up then another hour, then up again)

I do have alot of crap on my mind..so here is a question..

what do you do to get some sleep? (besides knocking myself out with a dumbell)

    Re: Sleepless

Hum...I'm up too. I couldn't sleep. It is 1:35 am here and I should really be in bed by 10 pm so I don't get off our sleep schedule for the week. We get up for 4 am for my husband's job (except on weekends).

If I can't sleep, I come here, read, watch a movie, etc. Something until I relax.

I'm wondering if it is because I had a little cream with cocoa and Splenda about two or three hours ago. I wonder if something in that is keeping me up? I'm not sure.

Once I'm awake then I start worrying about things and my husband sorta woke up (cough, cough) and I talked with him, then we wrestle (trying to tickle each other) and as soon as we were still, he fell asleep. So, I came in here to see what was going on in the board.

Do you have a blog? I'm thinking of finding a place to start one. Might help me get to sleep. Or I may look up some old school chums from high school just to see if I can find them.

I drink some decaf tea or sometimes i take a valerian root supplement. It's a natural alternative to sleeping pills.

            Re: Sleepless

I've had a lot of stress with work lately and sleep doesn't come easy. I make sure our bedroom is as dark as possible, and I've actually considered a sleep mask. I also wear ear plugs on the nights when I'm really struggling.

I did have a "situation" with the ear plugs. Hubby came to bed later than me, and was trying to wake me so I would move over (I was on his side of the bed). Since I didn't respond to his near yelling, he turned the light on and started pushing me over onto my side of the bed. I opened my eyes and when I saw his lips moving, and didn't hear any noise, I freaked out because I thought I had gone deaf.

Now I'm trying to remember why I insist on sharing these embarrsing stories.

I'm sure you're doc told you this about the Ambien, but make sure if you take it, you'll get 8 hours, otherwise you won't function well the next day. Also, don't take it until you are literally ready to crawl into bed, otherwise you may wake up wondering why you thought sleeping on the kitchen floor was a good idea.

I'm seriously thinking about asking my doc about the stuff. I have such pretty dark circles under my eyes. Chamomile tea is just not doing the trick.

                      Hang in there lady

I am an on again off again insomniac. I have taken Trazadone for it and I like it better than Ambien. I can still hear my kids and get up in the middle of the night if I have to then go right back to sleep. I also don't feel dopey in the morning.

My MIL took Ambien for 3 nights straight and it built up in he system. On the 4th night, she thought she was having a stroke because she could not move her arms or walk!!!

I took ambien for a while, but I hated the after effects. Luckily I came across some info on melatonin. It is a great natural sleeping aide with no side effects. It is also readily available at a reasonable price. I ussually get mine at walgreens.

A lady I work with was taking Ambien. Each day she'd fuss at her kids for eating certain things and leaving the kitchen a mess. Come to find out (from watching CBS) that this drug causes night EATING!! Yes, some people set up a camera in their home because they were getting blamed for food messes and the lady taking the Ambien was sleep walking and eating cigerette butts, raw bacon, etc. It is something! You may want to consider another alternative or med.

You can find one of the articles here: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/15/earlyshow/health/health_news/main1404632.shtml?CMP=ILC-SearchStories
