  • Anyone been to Peru?

I'll be moving there probaby at the end of this year. I've never visited there before, but my fiances from there.

Anyone been there, and able to tell me about it? From some websites I've looked at, it looks full of culture, which I will LOVE!

I was scared at first, and I still am to a certain extent, but now that I've thought about it, I've started to warm to the idea, and it sounds like an adventure I've always wanted to visit to see where my fiance lived and grew up. Just didn't have plans to move there! lol

But things work out in mysterious ways, so I'm getting excited now, hehe.

    My Peru Pics

I love that country! I'm taking students there every year. I took my daughter this year. The country is so beautiful and rich in culture. What part of the country are you going to? I've been to Lima (Miraflores), Cusco (Urubamba Valley), and Puerto Maldonado. And many areas around those. We've adopted a "sister school" in Pisac to send supplies to. Be sure to try the Cuy and the Ceviche. Peruvian Ceviche is the best! And I had alpaca steak that cut like butter. And if you drink sodas, you can buy Inka Kola light in Lima (but not in Cusco). I was dreaming of Inka Kola the other night. It tastes almost like a bubble gum soda.

First off, Cuy is TOTALLY off my list! I used to have pet 'pigs and I couldn't stomach the thought of it lol

He's from Miraflores. His parents have a beach house there which is where we'll be living. And his grandparents have a school in Lima, which has been passed onto my in-laws since they both passed last year.

I'm just scared about eating out there. I'm SO picky, it's unbelievable! It took me almost 3 years to eat meat in the US lol. I'd have chicken, and that was it, but beef and pork was off my menu altogether. No idea why! lol

But the thought of going somewhere where the food is completely different! Eek! I'll be eating in McDonalds on a daily basis I think lol. I've just warned my fiance that should he EVER take me ANYWHERE that serves Guinea Pig, I will deprive him of all reproductive organs lol. And I mean it...

The McDonald's I saw in Miraflores was about three blocks long. What a trip. I bought a happy meal just to get the box for my classroom.

One kid on the trip was very picky and lived the entire trip on bread until we got to the Amazon, where he survived on bananas.
