Thanks....Yes he is a pedigreed Himalayan, the first we have ever owned...but DEFINITELY not the last! Oh my gosh, he is just the sweetest little thing. So affectionate, loving and gentle and smart! Can you tell I love him??

I think it is neat that your cat matches your carpeting and floor and is such a gorgeous color!

I have a step-cat named Boots and she is mostly black with a few white markings on her face, chest & underside. She is not affectionate at all. She'll come in the same room with us, but doesn't want to be touched or bothered. My DH got her as an adult cat when he was a teenager and thinks she may have been abused by the way she acted. He said that she is a lot better now than she used to be. (I think she is over 20 years old now.)

However, the stray that has been hanging around is adorable! He is soooo affectionate and not in the least wanting to bite or claw at you like Boots. Sad to say we found his owners and they took him home, but he came back to visit! He doesn't come every day, but close to it. If he decides not to come back, I do want another cat if we could get one as friendly and fun as he is.

One dog is more than enough for me. Of course, my daughter wants another one, and as puppies they are adorable, but the costs of upkeeping their shots (just found out mine has heartworm for the 2nd time, this time she was taking meds all along), and kind of cramps your style with having to board animals when you go out of town (vacation and/or hurricanes). So have to say I am gonna stick with just One dog at a time.

Side Note- Betty that is definitely one of the most beautiful cats I have ever seen.

Wow! I didn't know there was still a chance of heartworm on the meds...!!! If my DH knew that he'd stop ours thinking we were wasting our $$. I wonder if there is any type of guarantee? That is such a shocker! (We use Interceptor.)

We are finding out about wanting to go somewhere for our anniversary, but don't know what to do about our babies. I suggested that we just go somewhere overnight or for the day. That way we could feed them before we go and, if we spend the night, feed them when we return. No days missed. We can't ask a neighbor because Shadow is aggressive and everyone is afraid of him. (sniff)

I agree puppies are the sweetest things. Not only the cost, but cleaning up after them all the time while you're training them is a lot of work and hard when you work most of the day away from home.

Actually the vet's receptionist told me to contact the makers of the meds, saying that sometimes they will pick up the bill to have them retreated. Unfortunately, I am one of those people who always gets screwed and have no luck with such things so I haven't decided to try it or just fork out the $300. bucks myself.

Hum...I think I'd at least give it a shot to save the $300. If it doesn't work out, at least you tried, ay?

If they get heartworms anyway, then what is the use spending so much money on prevention?

On another note: I just found out at our last vet's visit that the heartworm med not only kills heartworms, but various other types of worms too. So, it seems beneficial in some ways -- unless there a chance of other parasites getting in like the heartworms did.

Hey, Kat, the current cocker we have came from a rescue. I found it through petfinder!! See that?? She wasn't abused but had a very elderly owner who couldn't take care of her. So she was 6 and we've had her 2 years. What a doll. And our first cocker "as a couple" came from the local SPCA. People had moved away and left her. And, again, she was the darned sweetest dog you'd ever lay eyes on!!

Betty, you and I are opposites. I've never warmed up to cats ... mainly because I had been extremely allergic, which I think is starting to change a little. But, anyway, you don't go near them when you're that allergic and so you don't get to know them.

BUT ... I have to tell you that your cat is absolutely stunning! No wonder you're so in love!! See, there's hope for me and cats!!

At the moment I have none... . I work 60-70 hours a week and it wouldn't be fair to leave them home alone so much.

But when I am able to give up the part time job, I would love to have two puppies. My neighbor has brother and sister malamutes, about 8 months old now, and they are gorgeous. He said it's so nice to raise two at once so they can keep each other company.

Wow! Seven dogs seem like a lot; especially if some of them are big! I'm still scared of dogs, but think they are so cute! If I went to someone's house and seven dogs came out to greet me, I think I'd faint! (Yes, I'm that scared of them.)

It IS a lot! But they are wonderful. They are very well kennel trained, so it works out. There is only one big one, he's a butthead! But the others are all little wiener dogs!

Richard and I have decided no more pets in our apartments! We had the most adorable little puppy when we first got married, a wiener dog/german shep mix odd, but cute! We thought we would have time and space to train her, but it didn't work out to well!!! But once we settle down a bit and get a place for them to run I would like to have 2-3 little wiener dogs running around!

when I was a little girl I worked at a show dog kennel and loved being around all the dogs and puppies - I always wanted my own kennel.

now I have 2 dogs. Ralphy and Sandi. thats enough.
I do however miss my kitty George and would someday love to have another kitty - a black one this time. with blue eyes.

I'm changing my answer. If I had a big yard, and I didn't live in Florida, I'd have more dogs. But since I live in a house with virtually no yard, the most I'd want is 2.

I have 3 dogs. one cocker / terrier mix one chihuahua / terrier mix (These two look alike but with a 20 lb difference) And my German Shepherd. I love them all but I also have to make sure that one does not feel left out when I can only pet 2 at a time.

I am *not* a dog fan. Cats, however, I have absolutely NO LIMIT when it comes to them .. particularly Himalayans .. if I could afford it, I'd have a houseful of those sweetie pies! THIS LITTLE GUY IS THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE!

I think although I want to bring home every cute little doggie I see, in reality I would probably never have more than 2. There's not enough room in the bed for more than 2 of us + Gizzie as it is!
