This is the forum for chat so I'm chatting. When I had my last child, I had a lot of medical issues and for a long time couldn't produce any milk. But I kept trying by using special nursing tools. I learned of an herb that helps women increase milk production so I started taking it.

Fenugreek. I started off drinking it as a tea until someone told me that really you have to take the pills in order to get enough to make a difference. The way you know you are taking enough is that your sweat smells like maple syrup.

Well, I never really noticed any difference in the milk-production area, but I didn't have to wear deodorant for a month and my husband woke every morning with a terrible craving for pancakes.

Any other freaky "Herbal Remedy" stories?

    Re: herbal remedies

    Pancake cravings??? LOL!

This is a story I heard from someone else a few years ago. Her boss couldn't eat garlic. So if the office ordered something for lunch or if someone brought something in, the boss couldn't eat it if it had even a smidgeon of garlic. Apparently, the boss had alot of health problems: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. and was on a bunch of medications for it. One night he ate a take out dish of shrimp in garlic sauce. His blood pressure dropped and he was in Intensive Care for a few weeks. His doctors told him that garlic can lower blood pressure and his shrimp in garlic sauce probably did him in. It seems they did some controlled studies on him with garlic and the result was even if he ate 1 clove of garlic, his blood pressure would bottom out.

Now this is where the story gets kind of screwy...Remember this guy was on a bunch of medications to lower his blood pressure, etc. So he was advised to avoid garlic, rather than advised to eat garlic, but we'll decrease your medications.

    Weird huh?
