Sooooo, The Biggest Loser is starting tonight. Yay!!! Although I don't always agree with the methods used, I find it very inspirational seeing these people struggling to transform themselves and succeeding.

    Anybody else gonna watch it?

My family certainly is. Like you, I don't agree entirely with their diet or methods, and probably get too competitive over what could have been (had I been on the show . It is usually very inspirational like Matt's story from last year, and it's hard to not see yourself through their trials.

    So I am in.

      Re: Biggest Loser

i've only seen the show once, not sure what season it was...but it was the premier show. what put me off was when they made them climb a hill to get to the house they'd be staying in..then they put them in a room full of food and filled them gorging themselve on donuts pizza etc. i thought they made fools out of those people...it was horrible. I've never watched it since...i just thought it was very degrading...

Hey Sadie...I know what you mean...I've always thought those little "temptation" challenges were degrading, and especially that first one where they have their "Final" meal. They make it out like all overweight people are HUGE overeaters with NO self-control!

BUT, with that said, I do like watching the majority of the time. I like seeing them overcome physical obstacles (like running a mile or climbing a mountain). I like watching as they weigh in and begin to shrink. And I like their personal trainers too.

The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!

          Re: Biggest Loser

One of my former work colleagues was on the UK version a few years back. He is the most obnoxious, self centred person I have ever met. He gave me a bad view of that show lol.

I mean, look what his profile says on Wikipedia.com lol

"A Travel Agent from Cardiff, Paul made a bad start in the 1st week when he tried to change peoples votes and attempted to make a deal with his team mate, Mark to vote together to win the prize money. He was a strong team player & was good in challenges but by week 3 he had lost 1 stone 1 pound but after a dismal weigh in for both teams the red team lost and Paul was given the boot in a very heated elimination. He returned to the Reunion 3 stone and 5 lb lighter (23.5% combined total)
          "

But the concept is viewable. Maybe I'll tune in this time.

            Re: Biggest Loser

I guess that pig-out at the beginning is their final good-bye to the stuff that was killing them. I don't know about the rest of you, but whenever I would start a new diet (a few times a year) there would be a final weekend of eating stuff I was never ever ever ever going to eat again. Ever! Uh huh. Anyway, I guess the point is that we see them at rock bottom - big, overfed on junk food, barely able to make it up a hill, and then we get to watch their bodies and their attitudes change. When they make them run up that same hill later in the season, the contestants are usually crying and laughing from happiness that they could run up a hill they couldn't walk up a few months before. It wouldn't have the same effect if we saw them all piling off a greyhound bus or something. heee It looks like Jillian is gone and they have a new female trainer. I don't know why that would be...?

Lots of those in the world. But it doesn't mean all fat people are that way, or that all people like that are fat contestants on reality shows. I'd rather watch the show than ever see that man, though.

lol, I'm telling you that you would! Most definitely. I had to sit next to him, and all he could ever do is brag about how he was a celebrity and worthy of more than the job he was in. for 14 hours a day! lol

I'll give it another go though, I think.

Omigosh! So what was he doing there? If he was such a hottie celebrity and all - shouldn't he have been out fighting Johnny Depp for movie star roles? heee So how did you get away from him? New job? Did he get a celebrity-type job?

Thanks for the heads up that the show is starting tonight. I sound like the guys during a football game I get so loud cheering them on when they lose doing weigh-ins. I also find the show inspirational.

Well, first I claimed my computer wasn't working so I could move to another desk on the other side of the office, lol, then he got a huge ego boost and was promoted to Training Officer.
