Re: What food grosses you out?

Lots of stuff. I never used to be so picky, but in recent years, I have become so.

I can't stand ANY seafood whatsoever! I cant even walk past it in the supermarket...

The only meat I eat is Chicken, Beef and a little turkey. Anything else just....Urgh! My mom likes to eat duck, and the smell of it turns my stomach. I have to go out whenever she cooks it, but I'm lucky that she's very considerate, and gives me warning lol.

Also, any creamy sauces. Or any sauce really apart from Ketchup. Tartar sauce, hollandaise, thousand islands, parsley...not because of the contents, but just the look of it.

    And beets lol.

    I'm just weird.

White milk- I can handle chocolate and strawberry but the thought of white milk in someone's mouth makes me gag.

Raw oysters. Why anyone would want to eat something with the consistency of......well, nevermind, I'm grossing myself out here.

Re: What food grosses you out?

I've never tried offel or raw oysters, so I can't truthfully say it grosses me out. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to try them, though.

I'm not really fond of seal. Yes, I've tried it . . . once. Sort of too oily and something. The first piece was remicient of shoe leather; the second was cooked more like a roast with gravy, etc. I won't be having that.

It was really gross when my hubby decided to cook a flipper for himself last year when they were in season. That will be the last time he stinks up the house like that!! He will buy it already cooked, if he really gets the urge to have some, from now on!!

              ROTFLMAO!!!

Reminds me of when me and some gals decided to cook a bunch of crabs...my friend complained her apartment smelled like crabs forever, and next time would be at someone elses house!

Ah, I forgot to mention liver. I was watching Iron Chef once, where the central course was liver. Everyone made different dishes with liver...regardless, it still all looked very nasty.

Re: What food grosses you out?

I used to love liver. DH and I used to go to a restaurant to get it and because we were regulars they would serve it with onions AND bacon (usually you had to choose one or the other). But then I started hearing it wasn't that good for you and the kids hate it so....no more liver. Oh, sorry, this is the "grosses you out thread". Sorry for digressing.

Maybe I've just never had properly cooked/prepared liver...I dunno?

My sister would hurl whenever my mom made it. It's definitely an acquired taste. And it stinks up your house (which is why we always went out to eat it). You are not alone. lol

Re: What food grosses you out?

I love liver AND pickled herring, although every time I read the label, I think it has sugar or something in it. We used to just cook it (it was salt brined) and eat it with vinegar and raw onions. Guess that wouldn't be off limits.

Yes, it stinks up the house, but nothing like seal!! I think it's what you can tolerate (stink-wise), because there are plenty of "smelly" things that one can cook - but if you like them/don't mind them, then they are not considered unpleasant, I guess.

                              Another off-topic post, I'm afraid.
