  • bee repellant?

okay anybody got a good bee repellant to wear when mowing? It could have been a yellow jacket all i can tell you is it was black and yellow could fly and stung repeatedly. No other bee attacked me but dang this wasr the 3rd time in 4 weeks! And with all the rain we have been having and are expecting I will need to be mowing up till the first hard frost.

I can tell you deep woods off didn't work today.

I hate bees. How about wearing long sleeve with a hat. You should try to find the lair and kill them all...without dying yourself that is.

Agree with Tommy - find the nest. These bees (yellow jackets and ground hornets) are a nuisance, but foragers can be traced to a hole in the ground they will bee coming and going from during the day. If nest is disturbed they will attack, and if you swat one flying around, it releases a scent that attracts the others to attack. If they swarm on you, it could bee deadly. Never hit at one. You can lure the foraging bees away from your area by leaving a sugary drink somewhere in the distance, for short-term riddance. Once you find the nest, though, dress protectively and spray into it with bee killer at night, when they are sleeping and sluggish. Do NOT use gasoline - (though many do it's illegal).

          Re: bee repellant?

well they have been stinging me right through my pants on the right knee so long sleves and hats are not going to help and only one bee at a time which is why I don't think it is disturbing the nest cause when I cut the tree down in 03 and the vibrations disturbed those bees I was attacked by hundreds as all ADBBer from back then know.

One other thing -make sure when your in their vicinity you are not wearing perfume or other sweet aromas (even some deodorant can attract them), unless it's a "sweat bee"...but they look different, and will chase you down to bite (not sting). How big are the ones getting you??
